I blew out my rear globes (Again) factory Toyota ones last about 3-5 years for me w fresh Toyota fluid.

Has anyone in the aftermarket come out with a better globe yet?

Wow, I just replaced all 4 of my globes on my LX and used OEM because I read overall they are the most reliable. Are your pressures in spec? I wonder if your fluid is contaminated? How are you using your rig?

Did you also check your AHC neutral pressures via techstream and change rear coils or make adjustments to your torsion bars with your "globe" replacement? If not your pressures are likely not within specs and may have caused premature accumulator failures.

If you do decide to keep AHC, I would go back with Toyota OEM "globes" and upgrade your rear springs and maybe add spacers if you haul cargo or heavy passenger payloads. Then check your pressures and adjust TBs up front to put the system back to within design specifications.

It's most likely out of spec. I tried to get it checked and you would think the tech heard a dog talk for the first time. No idea what I was talking about. I found a set of OEM rear globes on ebay. I'll throw em in and go around again. I think Old Man Emu will be getting a customer out me soon.

IIRC, @PADDO goes with the larger size rear globes in the front and back when replacing.

For minimal effort and about $85 or so, you could throw some Slee 30 mm sping spacers on the back springs and set your cross level up front. Then blindly crank your torsion bars equally a few rounds each.

This would probably help to preserve your stock AHC system if your neutral pressures are indeed too high.

I purchased a set off of ebay.

Set 4 = Landcruiser Sahara 1998-2008 AHC Full Suspension Accumulator Spheres Kit | eBay

They have a few upgraded options. 2 year warranty.

"Upgrade Kit Choice = Comfort - Comfort Plus or Sports Kit
1: Comfort Kit = this set works basically the same as the original spheres like when they where new with the best & softest ride
2: Comfort Plus Kit = this set has slightly firmer Rear units so ideal when carrying heavy loads & towing, etc.. But still have a good comfortable ride
3: Sports Kit = this set has slightly firmer all round units Front/Rear so ideal for carrying heavy loads, heavy towing, hard driving & off road, etc. = but still have a good comfort ride"

I went with the sport upgrade. This the I've had it for a few years now and about 50k miles. Ride very nice when fully loaded ( roof tent, 5 fat asses and 4 large tires.). A little to firm when unloaded. I think it would be nice option of you plan on doing heavy towing or aftermarket bumpers and gear.

Definitely worth the upgrade.

Hope that helps!

Andy

Before I started working on my ACH, I thought of converting it to a standard LC suspension, but reading about how the AHC ride when working properly is amazing I decided on keeping it. If you go this standard LC route, you'll definitely want to replace your AHC torsion bars with LC torsion bars and get new rear springs as well.
