Mine antenna wouldn't go up or down but the motor functioned. I could manually extend it all the way but could only contract it (push it in 3/4) of the way. Then wheelin' last week I broke the antenna off about 1' from the fender. I don't want to mess with fixing whatevers broke that makes it go up/down & I don't want to replace w/the stock 4' silver antenna. I want to use one of those short black rubber flexible antenna's. I prefer it actually function as an antenna (but isn't 100% mandatory seeing as my radio works fine now w/practically no antenna). Will this work?

It's an antenna of course it will work the question is how well. if you are in a local area you should be just fine.

I replaced my broken factory antenna with the $14 one from WalMart and like stated, it works (compared to not) but it could be better. However I will say that the WalMart antenna fit in the curved hole on the fender really well. It was a pain to fish the new wire.
