Forgive me as I have little electrical knowledge of these thing electrical wise.

So, the inevitable finally happened on the trail and I forgot to lower my antenna on my 91 fj80. She snapped. I’m hoping the easy fix was that I could just take the mast off and replace it with a new one. However I am seeing now that the white cable in the picture does not detach from the mast itself.

Is there a simple way to disconnect the mast, connect a new mast to the white cable and get on with it, or am I going to go nuts having to tear apart my cruiser?

For reference with this, I forgot to mention it’s obviously a power antenna, and the motor and cable still work fine as far as I can tell.

You can get a new mast with the white plastic cable. Then you can get the motor out from the hole inside the fender. The trick is attaching the cable to the motor reel. I did it in about an hour. The motor didn’t come all the way out, just far enough to make it possible but awkward.
