Wheels,

So I finally bought myself some tires today (37x14x17 irok) :D and I was looking for some insight on what you folks believe I should run for wheels. I’m pretty strapped for cash and I haven’t yet lost a bead so I am not planning on getting bead locks yet, however they are most likely in the future(diy). I previously was running 35 ssrs at 6psi as trail pressure. I was hoping for 3” backspacing if they can make it, my understanding is in a 17” wheel they can do pretty much any backspace. That leaves the question at hand of what rim width. Interco recommends 11” wide wheel for the tire, weld on kits add 1 or 2 inches? I’m thinking a 10” wheel is most likely what I should get, either that or a 9”. Also who has got the best prices these days? Summit?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

If you are going to get steel wheels with the intention of a DIY beadlock set up later, I would go with 9" wheels if you can get them...I think that most of those kits add 1" to the width of the wheel when installed.

Good luck!

Thanks Steve, that is the direction I was leaning. Looking like I'm going to have to get custom wheels says summit. 17x9, 6on5.5, is only in a 5" BS, I don't think that would even work on my cruiser. Can I get a sanity check? 3.5 is standard for a cruiser correct.

I just got some irocks 37x14r15 and they are mounted on mt 15x10 rims with 3.5 backspacing and it totaly rubs on my 4x4labs hysteer so i am going to get some wheelspacers. but with a 17inch rim you might not have a problem especially if you get 3 inch backspace. also the 9 inch rim would make the tire look more tall and less wide

they are definatley a nice tire and good price aswell i really wanted the 38.5 sx but the irock was so much cheaper and i still have 4.10 gears so this will be good!:grinpimp:

as soon as i got them on i went across the road to test em

they rub allitle in the rear inners but that will go away with the spacers
I also plan on using 60 rears to get some more wheelbase

thanks for the insight brian and green for the pictures, I'm going to go ahead and buy 3" BS wheels as planed, I dont' want to be any narrower and as of now even with my fj60 axles I touch the inner fender well in the rear with my bald ass 35's, not that rubbing bothers me ;) just don't want to limit up travel.
