Update:
I did one of the things I hate doing today... pictures explain it all. Good news is, so far so good. I lucked out on this one.

Oh and I'll through in a pic of the pods I made for the MTX speakers. I have some black vinyl I'm going to cover them in and make the hangers for them.

Next steps are cutting out 6 total 6" rings that I'll use to build out from the door for the speakers. I plan on carpeting them so they will mesh well with the door panel. Wish me luck!

I finished! :bounce::bounce2:
I'll upload pictures tomorrow! Everything came out real good. I'm gonna go enjoy it now!

Why dont we turn this into a "post your stereo install" thread? Mods? Its what its turning into anyway...

BTW, dig the Zapco amp!

oh man, i thought i had responded but i guess not. post up the pics! i really wanna see those ID comps you put up front

Yea, I had a little change of plans... I decided to save a little money and ended up getting some older CDT comps 5 1/4"s. The price was so right I couldn't pass up.

Thanks! Yea, post up pics of your stereo and what kind of mods you've done. I'm heading out to take more pictures now!

And more... The pods I have hanging using the seat belt bolt. I made a quick bracket using some 2" wide aluminum. The last picture is the computer interface to program the settings on the amplifier. One can simply "dial in" whatever parameter he/she wishes for tuning. It's awesome! I'm still tuning it to my liking, but it sounds clean and can get very very loud.

Yeah I agree, nice to see all the input from the approach to what gear is being used.

mrhustle23, I'm planning the same style approach with 6.5" in the same front door location. That "full" sound from the front will sound good! Nice work with the panel. Those trips will be a blast now, enjoy!

Holy cats, man, that's quite the set-up!

Heres mine.

The dash is a cool Clarion I discovered that takes an SD card to play MP3's transferred from your MP3 player/iPod. Bluetooth also so you can hear your phone calls thru the stereo. $100 new! Added a digital volt meter too. The thing where the ashtray used to be is a CB/AM/FM coupler. It uses the CB antenna for all 3.

Xtant amp which powers the door speakers and a line driver. If you know what this is, you know its badass!

Heres the sub amp, an Xtant mono mounted nicely in the factory storage.

I put the rear fuse block behind the factory sub grill for quick access and asthetics.

And the sub. A 12" Infinity. When you put a 35 in the trunk, it kinda takes up the cargo space :o

Very very nice! I do know what you're talking about with the line driver. My in dash eq sends a 16v balanced line signal back to my amp. That's right there with that line driver! I like the CB/AM/FM coupler, I need that, where did you get yours? Nice nice set up!

Sorry to hi-jack for a sec -

Putting your Cobra in the top din, did that give some more room in the back for the antenna cable, or did you have to do some mild modding to it like others have?

Looks great BTW.

looks good matt, Is that one of the speakers that was in the echo?

I finally decided to put a sub in my truck (dodge) last sunday as well. I used a truck box i had around and dropped a MTX in it and used a Rockford Fosgate amp i had layin around as well. I stuck the box under the rear seat and it was a near perfect fit, then stuck the amp on the other side. Not a super powerfull system but i guess it works. it gave me the added bass i was wanting. U shoulda heard the sterio in the 60 before it was stolen. I had 3 12's... you could hear the bass a couple of blocks away, it hit so hard in the truck you could feel the pressure on your whole body.
