greetings all,

newbie here (1982 fj40) looking for a quick answer...

does anyone know if the Pakistani bows will fit the SpecialtyTopCo soft tops?

i thought that might be a good way to save on some shipping costs if i just had him send out the bows and i purchased the top here in the states.

thanks in advance!

Yes, they will fit since they are an exact copy of OEM soft top bows.

So you want the paki bows and a US soft top? ??? If anything I would get the paki top with US made bows if you want to save on shipping. And saving on shipping is all relative I suppose. It's about $300 to have one top flown from Pakistan to the US. It won't be a whole lot less to just ship the bows. DHL is lots-0-$$$$

The Paki top is higher quality than the STC top, I have felt, seen, etc both on the same rig.

I have not seen the STC tops in person, but the window plastic quality on Eshans Paki tops is enough for me to think twice. Its like trying to look out of 40 sheets of saran wrap. they are "clear", but that is as much as I would give them. Not really see through.

I am happy with my STC top. I have seen both and agree the material on the paki is more durable, but I personally don't like the way it attaches, I like the fasttrack method better. I also like the way the windows zip out. It's more a matter of preference for me.

Brett,

Which top has the hard-to-see-through windows? Paki or STC? I can read your response both ways, so I am now a big confused dummy!

My new STC top is clear. No problem here. The one on CCOTs page is last years model. The windows do not zip out on that one. Thats why I bought this years. Can't vouch for the older model.

You can get the windows tinted, but why?

I was referring to the replacement OEM style top that Kayline/STC made/makes.
It attaches like the OEM.

I have not seen the STC OEM replacements. I have seen the Paki ones and was not at all impressed. Material was thick, but not what I would want for a top. almost like fake leather vinyl seat covering material. Windows were horrible. There is little chance you could ID anyone furhter than a few yards away.

Hello there
While I cannot comment about the STC replica bows as I have not seen them but if they are exact OEM replicas then the top will fit them.. However.. You will not be saving a lot on shipping if you get the top alone as the major part of the shipment is occupied by the bows..
And thank you Brett for the criticism.. I will make it a point to improve on the quality of the windows.. We are using the best available material (the best here in Pakistan would not equal in quality the one available in the US)..
Thanks
Ehsan
