welcome john and welcome Nico!
clean rig u got there john!

Nico if you like you can start your own thread, to introduce yourself and post some pictures of your toyota, also there is a lot of good info in the FAQ section if you are new to the site. welcome aboard!

I put 8 quarts of oil with a new filter, and it looks like it's almost a quart over the full line. What's up with that? The glove box manual says it takes 8.2 quarts!

The filter you use might make a difference, I've never used a Toyota, but I suspect it's a bigun. (I installed a remote filter kit in mine, I am up to 10 qts )

So you just picked it up? Is it worth the $100 it's a service manual for the FJ 62's ?

In terms of usefulness and money you'll save on servicing, it is worth many times that, but you should be able to find one for much less. I "overpaid" for mine, hopefully someone will speak up on where to get one cheap.

A search on this topic will bring up a whole range of oil capacities, based on your individual engine and its maintenance history.

I'm using the small Toyota filter, and 7 quarts brings me to the full line. I've got a new oil pan, so no big dents, and shouldn't be too much sludge in the bottom. I must have a lot of sludge around the engine.

Basic rule is trust the dipstick, not what's supposed to fit in there. Being too full can cause your oil to froth up.

Very clean rig. Now go have some fun.

I glanced over the manual last night. It's awesome compared to other manuals that I've used. I haven't used it yet to do any maintenance or repair, but just looking at it, I can agree with others that say it's a "must", as I'll be doing most if not all of my own work.

I'm wondering if it could be found for a better price, but as I said , I wanted it bad, so I didn't bother shopping around.

:eek: congrats!!! really nice rig. pretty clean!!! just the way we all want them... enjoy it and urgently buy some bigger tires and lift!!

I just ordered the FSM for my '89 FJ62 from Toyota Publications. It was $84 shipped. Their # is 1.800.622.2033. Just give them the year and model.

Great looking 62, looks exactly like mine! Be prepared, you will spend many nights staying up reading on this forum till 2 AM!
