What paint did you guys use to rattlecan your wheels? I like the graphite look. That can't be rustoleum.

I used Duplicolor Wheel paint. Graphite color.

Yep...I used Duplicolor graphite (for Mazda) also used primer. It is nice if you have an extra wheel set as you can work on them slowly over the course of a week.

Do you want to sell your roof rack? Let me know!! BTW- Nice 99 landcruiser.
I'm going to keep the rack for now since I might use it on longer camping trips...

I have an extra set of OEM wheels with BFG AT 295/75/16 tires on them and live in San Diego. Maybe we should talk.

Mobi,

I sent you a pm, but I didn't see it in my sent box, about your wheels.

I'd be willing to throw you a rental fee or something if I could borrow them for a week or so while I paint my wheels. I'm up in oceanside and would come down to get them. Let me know.

Looking good! Bamabrok, can you do me a huge favor and measure the height of your cruiser from the ground to the top of the roof (I removed my roof rack, so try and exclude that from the measurement).. Thanks!

Bamabrock, what kind of springs do you have?

Tallest point on the roof in the back is 74.5". I did not measure the roof rack, just the the metal roof,

Great! I really appreciate it. No rubbing either right? Looks like I will be fine since the garage parking is 77''. I believe my spoiler adds and extra inch to the height.

no rubbing at all. sorry, I forgot to measure the spoiler. I'll do it in the morning.

Don't worry about it. My spoiler is custom. See the photo at the beginning of this thread. Thanks for your help.

I would sell my rack if it's still in the garage, but shipping to WI would probably not make sense.

I dropped my wheels off for Powder coating at Alpha Powder Coating in El Cajon. $65 per wheel. They will sandblast off the chrome and powder coat the wheels flat black.

Question: What process did you guys use to paint the center plastic hub caps? I was thinking I could rattle can them. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

There are a couple options in the thread I linked two. There are three main ways people have done it.
1. Rattle can everything including the sombrero
2. Mask off the sombrero with painters tape and rattle can
3. carefully put vasoline over somberero , paint and wipe off.

When I did mine, I was already needing to order new center caps. I ordered a set of the cheap ebay ones from China. It was easy enough for me to carefully remove the sombrero completely and then paint the caps. once it was dry I reinstalled the sombrero. I did do (1) of the oem ones I had left with the painter's tape method. Isnt hard...

Great, Thanks for the info. I'm having a really hard time finding black lug nuts. Anyone have a good source for these?

Thanks
