I have a line on a 2001 LX470, 49,000 miles, one owner, still has the floor mats in the dealer bags, new tires, full service history. $28.5k.

I ALSO have a line on a 2000 100 series, 95k, 90k service completed, new tires, brakes, etc. Also a full service history. $18k.

So, I am torn a bit. I can afford either, but I was curious to see what people think about the LX vs. the LC and if the 10k is worth the mileage difference and the creature posh stuff.

Thanks in advance. :)

We just purchased a couple months ago a '99 LC with 40,000 mi in immaculate condition for 21k. Sounds like both of those prices are good as long as they've never been wrecked, ie all body panels have the vin sticker, etc. As a road trip vehicle the 100 series is AWESOME.

gut feeling would be the 2000 for me.
LC cheaper to maintain.
LC suspension easier to work with?
50K if you're gonna keep it 300K is not that much.
2001 is going to depreciate faster, read lose more money.
10K plus 90K job and fresh tires (if the right kind) is a good number of mods worth.
Less costly, less stress in the bush.

Also might want to consider the amount of rust on the underbody of both.

My choice too, would be the 2000 LC. With the 10K saved, I would get a used Prius to balance fuel costs.;)

I bought mine (no 90K service done) with 93K in the odo, no previous maintenance history for 17K.

2000 all the way. Like has already been mentioned, saving the $10K is huge, cheaper to maintain, close enough that most people call them twins. Good luck on your decision!

Amendment...I am never going to wheel it. It will be a DD only and possibly a tow rig when I build the Avocado II.

Both look like good values, but the LC looks best overall. The LX is off its full warranty (age) and is at the point where a few repairs may be needed. I suspect it will at least need its normal 60K maintenance. The LC appears to be set for the next 30K miles with minimal repairs and maintenance.

The differences between the two are typically convenience. The LX will have lighted running boards, one-touch windows on all four, AHC, real wood trim, and may have a Levinson stereo (great one).

I don't really care about convenience...checking out the LC on Sunday...if it looks as good as described I am going for it.

I have a bill of sale for the 2000. She had just picked it up from the dealer from the 90k service and had all the work on file. New LTX tires too :).

Only two or three cosmetic flaws, nothing major (small scratches). No leaks except a small host to the right of the water pump, under the main rad hose. I think that is a low cost fix.

NO leaks underneath, no play in the driveline, no gear whine, no issues at all! I pick it up when I get back from GSMTR so until then I get to hold my breath.

It is the grey metallic mica looking color, gold trim.

wooohooo!
