So, i've searched for past 45 minutes, and read lots of heater questions... but didn't find this one (though this _can't_ be the first time someone had this problem).

My passenger side defrost duct is preventing the large heater duct (from blower to heater unit) from making complete contact... thus allowing lots of (cold) air to blow into cab.

Anyone have suggestions?

Are you missing the rubber coupler between the plastic duct and the metal heater? #5 in the pic...

On all stock in heaters installed in FJ40s from 64 thru 84 the defrost duct is routed behind the air duct between the heater core and blower. A picture would help towards fixing your problem.

I got tired of replacing the #5 coupler, and made one out of aluminum bubble insulation.

a late model 1 piece duct will also fit have them on my 69 and 70 got rid of that boot that never seems to fit right good luck

I should have been more specific. Mine is a later model. 1975. So, it's a one piece duct. The defrost duct is routed behind the duct as it should... but the defrost duct is crammed between the main air duct and the firewall, and the defrost duct keeps pushing the main duct off of the metal heater housing. I'd tape it on there, but i don't see how i could get tape on the top and back sides of that connection.

vat iz dis "Duct Tape" you schpeak ov?

seriously though, i can't even get tape around the back and top of the duct anyway.

Maybe a silly question, but are all your parts for the same year? Do you possibly have an early heater and later duct work? Or some other combination that wasn't originally designed to fit together? Just a random thought.

Photos would help as well.

Never heard of that one? What year ducts will fit the 69-71?

The inner tube is also a good idea. Cut neatly, it would look like it was OEM.

come on shelfboy and splitshot...where are these pics at so we can see?
