Hello All
Quick post to let you know the dates of this year's 70 Series southeast gathering, Covid permitting. We will be at Windrock Park in Oliver Springs, TN the weekend of September 16-19, 2021. Charles tells me the on-site lodging options are booking up, so please book soon if you want to stay on site.
More later as the event date approaches.
Peter

Is there a limit to how many of our 70's we are allowed to bring?

As Peter mentioned, details will be forthcoming later in the year but based on the Windrock calendar I saw today there is a LOT of pent up interest in the park and if there’s any chance you’ll be able to attend it would be prudent to make lodging / camping arrangements as soon as possible.

In an effort to answer a few of the questions I’ve received:
1) Yes I realize a January notice for a September event is a tad premature however if you plan to camp in the park or rent a cabin NOW is the time to make reservations.
2) No, we do not charge to attend. The only cost is associated with park and potentially WMA entry fees.
3) There is no formal registration. The only thing I ask is that sometime in September you notify me with your intentions to attend so we can have fairly accurate numbers.
4) Although we highly encourage 70 Series owners to attend, owning a 70 Series is not required.
5) Yes, there are a number of hotels in Oak Ridge, TN all of which are within a 15 min. drive of the park.
(As of today, we have one Jeep attending and that’s our limit.) 😊
6) Although you’ll have the opportunity to ride a number of Windrock’s scenic trails and visit some of the historical sights in the area, this is basically a “social gathering” where the emphasis is on spending time with old friends and making new friends.
7) Yes, this is a family friendly event. Spouses and children are welcome.
........ We’ll resurrect this thread in the Summer with more details ........

While I can’t comment on the camping sights, the park’s cabins are going quickly.

Looking forward to attending.

got to get a cabin

Just booked a hotel in Oak Ridge as my wife is joining me on this trip.

We'll do the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way home.

Hopefully we can take up even more of the park’s parking lot. 😊

Hey @FJ73Texas I'm planning on going! I reserved a camp site (I'm a cheap skate so cabins are too much for me lol)

Maybe I can meet you in DFW area and then we go up there the rest of the way.

I don't have a turbo though so you will have to go easy on me on the hills.

I am hoping to get my RTT by then but who knows....

Yeah lets see if we can caravan out! Always happy to have a like vehicle join on a long drive.

Don't worry, my turbo helps even out me having an AT and yours having an MT haha. I can't fit my truck in the garage with even a roof rack, so I need to get a platform made up for the inside to sleep in it.

Just booked a campsite...see you all there.

I guess we should have printed decals for 2020 that simply said “COVID”. ☹️
