I've searched the forum, interwebs and watched a bunch of videos, but have some specific questions about the PX6/Android 9 style head units (many versions out there) that I can't quite come up with answers for. Hoping someone can help!

1. Will I need a seperate amp to power existing speakers? Will the stock amp work as it should or does DSP/time correction need to be applied in the software?
2. Will I still be able to use the DVD player, or at least the DVD screen to play downloaded or streaming videos? I'm thinking a DVD changer could be hidden somewhere, but how would it work with the head unit? If it's a hassle, I can leave this out, but I'd like some way to play videos on the screen in the back seat.
3. I'd like to take advantage of the option to add 360" cameras to my 08 LC. I understand this will require a 12v camera kit, running some wires, and installing cams in specific places. Is this correct? Any advice on this?
4. Can anyone recommend the best place (in terms of support) to buy the newest or best model in the 12-16" range (seems like a lot of them are pretty old at this point)?
5. Any other cool accessories I should consider with this system? I'm already planning on the surround cameras and a beefed up sub+amp.

Thanks fellas!

Here's my experience:
The factory amp is still utilized. Any DSP is done through the new head unit.

If you have a factory DVD player that outputs to an overhead or back screens, This will not work as before. There is no DVD unit in the Android unit. It is likely someone could figure out a way to output to the back screens, but my overhead unit was a completely separate unit and I didn't need to do this.

I know there are additional cameras available, I only used my factory back up camera

Phoenix Android was helpful with my initial install. I had some major issues and it turned out to be a harness that was loose to the hazard switch and blue tooth mic. I had to spend a good bit of time using an interpreter through a messaging app to solve the issues. Once we found the problem, they sent me a new unit and returned my previous one. Youwill need to be able to sort through stuff, trial and error, and be willing to pull your dash apart.

Good luck with your Unit. It made my truck livable again with the bluetooth audio connections.

Depending on the year, your options are different. For instance sometime in the last couple years, the cameras all changed to coax (at least in the US).

There a couple threads with known solutions. Outside of those documented configurations, there can be gotcha’s.

Troubleshooting is no problem....got my handy DMM and scope on standby.

Were you still able to utilize the back seat "DVD screen" for other purposes? I notice most PX6's have a component (yellow RCA) video output. I assume this would plug directly into the rear screen and simply mirror whatever is on the head unit?

Hey Hants,

Long story short, I've gotta pull apart a bunch of the interior anyway, so running new wiring/cabling to new cameras is no biggy. I'd love to have the 360 degree surround/overhead camera option. Honestly, that alone is a big motivation for doing the upgrade. So whether it's coax or component, no prob, I can run new wires.

Phoenix Android is going to have the latest units and the best support from what I've seen. It's also where I got mine:

Here's my video on my installation for our 2009 LX:
