So I'm back from the maiden voyage... in a word... WOW! Every single mod showed its value.. from the seats to the weight loss...

The propane rocks... flawless at any angle, purrs like a kitten, even at 600 rpm. at 500 it ran a little choppy, but NEVER stalled. Great for keeping the engine from driving through the brakes. Re-filled the tanks at $1.95 a gallon at the Flyin J.. :)

The automatic... oh. my. gawd! This is *THE* only way to fly... the control is amazing.. it even makes bumping up thigns easier... especially if you have to back up and hit it a little. SOOOO much easier on everything too.. the suspension, the birfs, everything. Thanks to the gearing and the kickass stacked-plate cooler with fan, hot line temps were never above 150 offroad, 170 onroad.

By far, the buggy diet was the best mod.. I could tell the ease at which it would work.. from bumping up ledges, to dragging the rear diff over things, to hill climbs.. My axle hop is all but GONE.. I was able to spin all 4 tires while looking for traction without bouncing.. I pulled cable one time on a loose rock hillclimb that everyone except a comp rig on krawlers pulled at LEAST once on.. but not again the whole weekend. The only downside is the large amount of hot air that comes up from the exhaust while driving on road..

A couple of dropoffs were a bit puckering, but the low Cg helped, as did the rear limit strap.

Even the Bilsteins made themselves very well known.. the damping was great.. Between those and the seats, my neck and back weren't sore after 2 good days of riding..

Bugs & carnage... minor! 1: PS return line rubbed against the radiator, started leaking.. replace hose, adjust hardline, fixed. 2: The front driveline bolts at the carrier bearing flange hit the skidplate under torque.. just need to trim the skid a little. 3: CV at the top of the rear shaft spit a cap after starting to make noise at the exit of the last trail on the last day.. limped it back to within 1/2 mile of camp until the cap came out.. 4: The electric cooler from Target doesn't get as cold as it should.. :p

Thanks to everyone here for the suggestions, advice, and the encouragement... Roundup '06 will be a blast! (as will GSMTR)

awesome...glad to hear things went well!

my shakedown was in TX....literally 20 yards of drive time before trailering 1400 to RoundUp....that is VERY nervewracking!!!

Way to go Rich!!

Congrats - I know how much work you've got in your rig. It must be a good feeling to see that all the hard work paid off. Enjoy!

Looking forward to seeing you at the Round-up!!

How long does a fella have to wait for some action shots?

:( Wellll... my loving wife left my camera at home... 2 others let their batteries go dead filming Day 1 with another group while I did the "bunny trails", and no one else brought any... I don't seem to normally wheel with a very multi-media savvy group. It sucks.

Also, Nicole always wants to be IN the rig when I'm climbing obstacles, and objects to getting out and taking pics... I'm doomed to memories..

But, I'm going to a "playground" this weekend, and I know there will be pics & video taken, and since the location is very tow-rig friendly, I'm determined to hammer on my junk to uncover any weaknesses (I think the tranny/t-case mounts allow too much motion, I wouldn't be surprised if I break one).

So, gimme until next week...

Very nice Rich!

Looks like it's working great. Now you're ready to come off the bunny slopes ;) ;)

Roundup 06 here we come!

I got a few pix, but I can't figure out WinZip to save my ass. I have been trying to e-mail them to Ya' but every time I try and attatch the zip file, my e-mail tells me there is nothing in the "folder".
