In 1997 I bought a 1988 Xtracab that I had regeared with lockers, then in 2001 I sold the truck and sas'd a 1991 4Runner. Beat on it for while then bought a 2000 4Runner in 2006 and sold the 91. I still have the 2000 Runner but I have always wanted a Land Cruiser. I came close with a few 80's but never pulled the trigger. Last year my parents bought a 2006 100 series to replace their 2000 100 series that they bought new. Dad kept talking about selling the 2000 but it was all talk for a while. Then in April he said a neighbor was coming to look at it but asked me if i wanted to buy it. Duh! It only had 219,000 (only!) but he always drove it excruciatingly slow and maintained it well so I figured I better jump on it, he gave me a pretty good deal too! 2 weeks ago the gf and I drove it from NC to its new home in WI. Now I just have to start saving for the mods. Below are pics before we left NC with her.

Almost as soon as I got it home I had to get rid of the gold! I couldn't stand it from the first day my parents brought it home. So plastidip the emblems and removed the pin stripes. Then it was time to get rid of the flares and running boards. Much better!

nice , and congrats !! good first mods.

Thanks! The only problem I know of right now is that the passenger side inner CV boot is leaking and the tires are too small. I have ordered a CV boot kit from the dealer and pm'd pfran42 about the boot clamps he is selling to take care of the leaky CV. Need to change the fluids in the diffs and transfer and then hopefully do the timing belt before it gets too cold out.

Nice rig, I'm in Milwaukee and have an 02. I Debadged the rear due to the classy gold package. I also removed the "wood" on the interior. It's truly sad that some poor chap at the dealer actually spent his time making these trucks look lame. Thank god it is reversible

Thanks cardyjones, my parents 2006 doesn't have any of the wood or the gold so I graciously offered to take it off their hands instead of the 2000, for the same money of course...

Did you use heat and normal adhesive remover to get the wood off? It doesn't look too bad, its a dark cherry, but like you I would have rather had factory no wood.

Welcome to the Club! I also need to Plastidip my rear emblems, but only because the black pearl has faded and started to chip. Can I ask how you did yours? I can see that you taped off the rear, but did you just spray the emblems and cut out the overspray, or did you tape off into the nooks and crannies of each of the letters? In other words, how'd you do it

Just clean the emblem then tape off an area around the emblem. Dont need to tape each letter. Spray several coats and it will peel right off but stay on the emblems.

I watched this youtube video and went from there. My emblems were delaminating and I cleaned them up a bit but missed a spot or two and will need to plastidip again sometime. So make sure you get all the chipping off the emblems before you spray. Also take note in the video where he talks about spraying from all angles. I thought I was getting the bottom of the letters good but didn't. I found the plastidip at the local Ace Hardware.

Welcome!!

Is it me, or does it seem there's a surge of new 100 series owners lately??
... I think the secret is out.

They come in waves. Seems like the last was was mid spring. (3 Atlantians, and several CO owners)

That's cool!

The more the merrier! And hopefully more contributions!
