Great photos. Been there once, that was several years ago. And drive though the pass in a Honda Accord in winter is no easy task. Many times I have to use reverse to get out. (It's an automatic). Wish I had the LC back then. Great place, they call it the Switzerland of America. Hope I can return there this year. But I prefer winter though. Saw a lot of folks soak in the hot springs last time.

Ray, third week in June every year = Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Also, just Google "San Juan Mountains", "Million Dollar Highway", etc. and you'll quickly find out that Silverton, Durango, Telluride, Ouray are an awesome destination.

Rising Sun is doing a trip there Sept 1 & 2. I went last year and had a blast. Lots of great wheeling, and hot springs.

The first FJ National Summit is being held there July 12-15th, I have not made plans yet but the photos of Ouray, CO are awesume.

Wonder how many people we could get and in my case will need a hotel...

Looks beautiful, definitely need to go there sometime. That photo through the windshield toward the bottom looking down on Telluride is a cool shot. Fourwheeler magazine had a cover shot from that very vantage point with an early Bronco in it from 40 years ago. Alot of history in that area.

This is a 13 hour drive so we may want to make it a two day drive (that's if we go)?

I've posted a couple of times in the Trail Rides section as we've been making that trip for 8 yrs but IMO if you're going to go there from here you really need to hit Moab either on the way there or the way back for at least a day or two. The route from Moab to Telluride around the La Sal Mtns is fantastic. Of course both places, Moab and the San Juans, deserve a lot of time to truly explore but I feel it's always been worth my time to stop in Moab even for just a day on the way.

If you want a little decadence while in the San Juans we've always enjoyed staying at the Peaks Resort in Telluride when they run a $99/night special via the internet - worth every penny. The campgrounds in the area are really nice but be advised the later in the summer you go, the worse the flies/mosquitos become and the greater the likelihood of consistent afternoon showers (monsoonal).

Moab and Ouray all in one trip, sounds like a 8 to 10 day trip in the planning.

Yep, sounds like at least a week trip for that kind of mileage. I've already got my big trip planned for this summer. No dice for me.

I will be out of vaca time due to a trip to Puru in June W/O the 80
But I will take pics of all the 80's I see over there.
