one other thing, this is a little anal of me, but i want to be correct when i talk of my 40. with it being stamped as an FJ45, but having a 2H in her, do i call her an FJ45 or an HJ45 or something else?

Well, given she's sporting a 2h she'd be an hj47. However I'm inclined to agree with Wayne: 'FJ45 which has kicked the petrol habit' or some such. Though having had both engines in similar rigs I'd say the 2h comes no where near doubling the fuel economy of a 2f. About 20% better is the best I've ever seen and that was after I turboed my 2h. Before turbo, maybe 10-15% more efficient.

This is why in places like the US where diesel is actually more expensive than petrol, diesel makes so little economic sense.

i have found the average fuel mileage i got with a 2F powered 40/45 was 10-12 mpg
i have found that the average fuel mileage i got in a HJ60 was 20 - 25 mpg, hence my claim.
2Fs are tractor engines, tons of grunt and decent get up and go
2Hs are tractor engines, tons of grunt and no get up and go
turbo 2H is a different story, tons of grunt and good get up and gone but i also find that once i turbo my diesels the fuel economy goes down ... probably because they are more fun to drive after a turbo.

Wow, best I've ever averaged with any of my 2hs was 17. My 2fs have always averaged 13.5 once tuned and it was the same in my 40 or in troopies I've owned with the 2f.

Having said that, I know the 2f really well and can tune it in my sleep. I've never really felt like I knew the 2h well. It could be that I've never had a well-tuned one.

My turbo was professionally installed in Melbourne though and they did a new head and injectors. I could get 19 mpg with that but not regularly.

talk about a shaddy past... do you know the history of "Willowvale Motor Industries" (WMI)?

"In 1988, details of deep-rooted corruption in the upper echelons of government and the ruling party emerged in what came to be dubbed the “Willowgate” scandal.

“Willowgate” exposed how Cabinet ministers and other politicians abused their positions to source many cars each from a government-owned automobile assembly plant, Willowvale."

"The biggest scandal, however, took place in the late 1980s when some government ministers took advantage of a shortage of motor vehicles and became middle-men in their acquisition from the government-controlled Willowvale Motor Industries (now renamed Willowvale Mazda Motor Industries)"

"there was only enough in assembling to satisfy 10% of the countries new automobile needs"

"the cars were bought wholesale and resold at a 200% profit."

Senior Minister of State for Political Affairs resigned and later that year commited suicide (1989)

they were changing hand in 1989 to run as a mazda only plant "In 1989 we sold 25% of Willowvale Motor Industries to Mazda"

Before this they were assembling Peugeot, Renault, Toyota, VW and Mazda at the same plant with kits.

... theres lots on the net.... amazing

welcome to Zimbabwe :grinpimp: Lol, bribery and corruption is standard protocol for Africa, esp north of ZA. there have been some scandels that make that look like taking a lollipop from a toddler...

im hoping for between 6.5km/L to 7.5km/L... not sure what this is in MPG. I have just completely rebuilt the motor, liners and pistons and all...

how big a job was it to install the turbo? ive been thinking about it but am undecided...:hhmm:

no biggie
kit is the easiest
wrecker build is more time consuming and can lead to frustrating results or can lead to pure, cheap happiness.
