I live in Sahuarita and have driven many of those roads. Easy trails but I would not do it unless you are armed. You will see many Border Patrol vehicles in the area. T

Interesting...I would of thought the same. Today I talked with a couple of guys that were in the area all weekend and when I asked they saw not warning signs, no border potrol, and nothing along those lines. I'm used to seeing that kind of stuff south of Patagonia, Ruby, and around Sierra Vista so I was surprised on there report. What started me looking in the area was they said off FR143 is FR4082 to access Madeira Canyon and in there specially equipped  offroad Ford could not make it up the extreme 4WD shelf road.

Have you been to the Observatory?

Thanks for the armed tip, Im always equipped when I travel;)

I have not. I have not traveled FR4082 either so I cannot say what the issues would be, but that comment about the Ford is surprising.
As far as illegal activity, it just depends on the day I guess. We have BP choppers going overhead daily. The last time I was down there, I saw several suspicious "lookouts" on high ground and ran into a couple of BP vehicles on the road. Guess it just depends on what is moving in the area.

I stand corrected you jogged my short term memory:D They did say, late in the afternoon they had a heli looking at them.

Let me know when you're going. I rarely go south of Tucson unless in a group.
