Am I crazy for wanting to pull the trigger on this?

Yes...another thread from this guy. I kinda pretty much have my wife sold on yanking out the AHC to get a "regular" suspension setup. @paflytyer has the rig that I have been admiring for quite a while. He has a setup similar to what this kit offers. Am I crazy in thinking about spending the amount it costs to go with this kit?

My thoughts on this are this would be the one time I would ever need to do suspension type upgrades. There will be PM needed with this set up, but I do not foresee any reason why I would choose anything else except for the price. The shocks are adjustable enough that I am sure they can and will ride better than my AHC in any configuration I will have the truck in. Is there anything else out there that is even comparable at a lower price? I'll be honest, if it's on Stan's truck, that's good enough for me.

I want to state that I have no idea what Stan paid for his set up. Being who he is, he probably got it all free because the exposure of everybody drooling over his rig ;) #sponsored

Any thoughts, suggestions, insults, encouragement to throw my way?

Oh yeah for sure. In fact this purchase would be pretty far down the road. Gotta save up the moola!

Wait, isn't there going to be a raffle for that? :)

Can't think of a better place than HIH7 to have these conversations with fellow LX owners (and '06-'07 LC owners) who've gone through it or kept the AHC.

I just picked up my '03 with fresh OEM suspension, OME 865 springs, and new BFG K02's and the ride is sweet! Also impressed with the height increase in the rear with the 865's - will be cranking my T bars to level it out.

last time i spoke with Carl he was going to be at HIH, if you're going to be there track him and the other nitro guys down and have a conversation with him about it, just look for the guy in the 200 series, lol, blaspheme!

i rode in Carls 100 when he had this setup, i can say that I've been trying to replicate that sort of ride in every vehicle I've had since, we're just lucky that something that rides this nice has already been flushed out and put into a kit for the 100's, on my 4runner i went through almost every shock configuration out there trying to get my 4runner to ride like his 100, there is zero question as to what suspension setup im going to run when it comes time to ditch the AHC.

but man, it costs a pretty penny, lol, still cheaper than R&R of the AHC, but still, it's going to take me a minute or two to save up that amount, lol.

Sell it and get a non-AHC model. Use the extra cash on some upgrades. You wont have near the headaches and time spent agonizing over how best to remove/replace the AHC. Time is valuable.

I'm pretty sure I can recoup some money from the components that will come out. Not near enough, but this set up seems to the overwhelming choice for best available. If I can swing it, or win the raffle if one is going to be raffled off (fingers crossed!) I am sure I will be a very happy camper.

If you want a conventional suspension I would do it while the AHC is still good. I was really surprised by how much I was able to sell my used AHC components for on eBay. I got 450 for the globes, 400 for the AHC shocks, and 350 for the reservoir and pump, and that was with me clearly stating thy came off a 2000 with 170k miles. It only took about 3 weeks, and I still have a few things to list. That goes a long way towards a new suspension.

If you do it yourself, maybe a write up would be pretty good!

I will have a shop install it. I'm still waiting for the rest of the components that I believe are 2-3weeks out

Did you order the kit from justdifferentials?
