I would REALLY like to get my battery charged. Who has first hand info here.

3 wire alternator. wired per all online instructions.

battery to batt. terminal.

#1 terminal goes to ground of 1157 bulb. hot side to gauge fuse box via my gauge circuit.

#2 terminal straight to fuse box.

Alternator new from autozone. All wiring is new.

Light will not go out when it is running. Looks like it is not charging.
battery is at 11.5 volts right now.

What is the deal.

Resistance problem with light?
different wattage needed?
battery need charged first?

I get varying takes on the online instructions. One says #1 to fuse, and # 2 to batt. never mentions a light. Other says light dosent mention what kind.
Another says to have under 5 watt resistance. Other has 25 watts.

I have come to the conclusion that someone is an idiot. Just dont quite know who to blame yet. :o

Thanks for any help. Mike

Since I just went through this, I may be able to help. First of all, which alternator do you have? CS130?

Notr sure ???? internally regulated, battery post and a 1 and 2 terminal. looks like the write ups on line.

basically looks like this. would have to check if it is actually a 10si or 12si.
whatever the $35 special is. :D

From what I am finding out I ned to find a bulb with the proper resistance (15.6ohms) from what I am reading. Anyone know what bulb I can use that will be the ticket. I would rather have a bulb than a resistor so I still have a warning.

this would also translate to a bulb that draws .77 amps.

How many volts are showing at the alternator female plug (unplugged), on the # 1 terminal?
Perhaps she has allready been killed?

So the #1 = excite, and #2 = sense wire, correct?

Here are some bulb #'s '194,57, or 1895. Many miniature light bulbs of around 2 candle power should be ok. A 3 watt/ 75 ohm resistor, is another way to go. (this info has been gleaned from my Mad enterprises CS-130/144 wiring kit manual.

Here is a Link to MAD enterprises 'kit' for this alternator, the parts and the wiring can be sourced cheaper, but the info in the manual should be worth the price of admission, as he has a knack for making things clear and simple.

I used an led light that goes into a 1/4 inch hole and it works fine.
