Anyone know a thread with instructiions on replacing alternator brushes? Doing mine while it's loose during the :censor: HG job.

What about replacing the timing chain tensioner? Water pump? Close to the firewall heater hose monstosity? (is this a bad design or what)?

Brushes are cake. Set the alternator, pulley down, on the bench and remove the tin rear cover and then remove the screws that hold the brush pack in and swap the pack. The tensioner is held in the head with 2 nuts, easy. The hoses at the firewall are not bad with the head out of the way. The water pump is also straight forward. The fan and fan clutch need to come out first and on a naturally aspirated vehicle you can carefully snake the fan out without completely removing the shroud but you need to be careful with the shroud so you don't break it.
