Has anyone ever found a different steering wheel than of course the original 67’ wheel the emblem is made for?
Basically I wanted a little smaller steering wheel than the original lager diameter OEM steering wheel.
I know this is somewhat a rare question, but just seeing if anyone has ever played around with that and found something, a steering wheel with smaller diameter - even slight, that could fit the emblem in the center with minor alterations.
Shot in the dark, but worth a try…

(Oh the bracket thing on top is for a tiny diameter off road style steering wheel the PO converted). A GT one and it doesn’t wanna quite fit on that one with a lot of cutting and grinding to McGuyver it. But where there’s a will, there’s a way I guess.

No clue. Have someone 3d print a emblem in the size you need. Paint it and put a thin metal backing on it for support.

Only when I converted to Saginaw PS and a GM column. The steering wheel is a 15” GM early 50’s model that Speedway sells. I don’t remember the spline count but then all of the new stuff was compatible.

If you are going smaller diameter and big tires you may want to do a power steering conversion. Lots of options out there, and mine is a ‘67 also. Horn button fit oddly enough.
Column is a 32” tilt generic Speedway item.
Saginaw kit from Advance Adapters.

Edit: beautiful work below although I think I have maybe $1500 into the AA kit, column and steering wheel. Love that someone took on making a new wheel. Much more organic solution.

Here’s an interesting alternative…I don’t know what one would cost today tho?

Have a power steering convo- Tercel swap
But your look is exactly what I'm looking for...

I don’t know anything about the Tercel conversion but as long as you can connect the column to the power steering box via shaft and universals I wouldn’t see why not.

An 80's style 4x4 mini power steering box will bolt right onto the tower.

I already have a PS conversion paired with a steering column conversion .. but my steering column switches are giving me the business snd I want to get a better column - I even purchased the original 76 column, but found out my ramp is a different angle now for the OEM steering box that's still there mates with the column (I presume it's off like a newer Toyota based on it being able to mate without any obvious alterations - meaning where splines meet the female end. From what I can see.

Right,
So you're using the oem steering box with rag joint stc?

No it’s a full Saginaw box with GM Column. The Saginaw ‘kit’ is from Advanced Adapters too. Including steering shaft and universals. Was the easy button for me.

The steering column is from Speedway as is the wheel, like I mentioned above.

Got it , I'll check it out. Might be a bit much considering I'm already working with the other popular power steering convo for the fj's .. so I might see if I can find a work around (if cost of full Saginaw power steering conversion doesn't make sense) - might as well just use electric power steering set up if the cost is similar

I never looked into the electric power steering. From what I understand it’s for later model FJ40’s. Mine is 1967 vintage.
