Hello all. I've been lurking for about 2 months now trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can before posting my first thread. So rest assured I'm not going to ask which is the best lift and how big a tire I can fit under said lift.

I bought my 80 from a suit in NYC who couldn't even tell me what that funny switch was to the left of the steering wheel. He said he hadn't even put it in 4lo since he had owned. Fortunately he did keep extensive maintenance records for the last 60k miles. The truck now has 100k miles and I bought it for $9k. Given the condition of the paint and the relatively low miles I thought it was a really good deal. My first mod was to remove the damage expanders from the front bumper and rear tail lights.

This will be a third vehicle for my wife and me used primarily when we go on trips with the dog and obviously off-road adventures. I think the rear sliding windows for the dog is what sold my wife on letting me get it.

Thanks to everyone this board for all the free info and especially to wildyoats as his truck is what inspired me to jump in with two feet.

Here's a couple pics for everyone. I've noticed that people like to show off their rigs flexing so in turn I've done the same ;p.

Wow - looks clean. you bought the well maintained mall cruiser - those last much longer and usually dont need much work - congrats. Lockers too! It looks clean and like a cruiser to be proud of. Do you have any mods brewing in the plans? Does the wife know about these "plans" yet....?

Oh yeah ~ welcome to the newfound madness :flipoff2:

Welcome :flipoff2:

funny you mention the clincher for the wife was the rear sliding window for the dogs. I was a the dog park recently with my 2 pooches (of course their heads are sticking our the rear sliders - one on each side - sniffing and barking at the other dogs as we pulled up). A woman walks up as I am unloading and also says that that was the reason she bought the type (unknown which make) of SUV she did - was because of the rear sliders for her dogs. Hmmmmm~Guys - this may be a new sales angle for the wife when you want to buy a LC - worth a try, seems to be inportant to them as much as we like the switch to the left of the st wheel....

Welcome

Wow; that's a killer flex that you have!
Welcome :flipoff2:

almost as good as the guy who stacked rocks to flex off his front step, classic.

:flipoff2: welcome, I got a similarly optioned and maintained 80 from a dermatologist, all receipts since new and no problems yet, fingers crossed.

Bienvenido!!!= Welcome!!! :)

Yeah the wife knows some of the plans however I don't think she knows how soon I want to implement said plans. I'm going to start like so many others with a OME suspension and either 285's or 315's. Haven't decided which to go with yet. Then after that armor up appropriately. I'd like to do the work myself but if I feel I can't when it's time to pull the trigger IPOR is only a 45 minute drive down I-95. TBD at this point but I'd like to go for an "expedition" type truck a la dmc and wildyoats.

Nice looking rig like the colour welcome

Nice Holiday gift for yourself! It's better to give than to receive unless it's a Land Cruiser.

Cool another local!!!! Welcome.:cheers:

So maybe this is a stupid question but does everyone on this board only have 5 max PM's or is it a big joke on the FNG's? That's worse than my work only letting us keep 100 mb in our Exchange Inbox.
