Alex Carvallo at AOE stole $900 from me !

@sbrodacz Do that and maybe link a kickstarter funding for the first set of them. I wouldn't mind waiting for months on a bumper that I knew was being designed and built custom like that. Especially if I had input on it. The reason I am so pissed at the AOE issue is that I was initially told 2 weeks and I would have a bumper, then the lies started. That was in early June.

They're a really popular company. I purchased a rear tire carrier for a wrangler 8 years ago from them and it was an awesome bumper. They do wranglers, trucks and fjs. I'll post more once I get a chance.

Update: So I received my bumper from Alex at AOE this morning. Although he informed me that he would be sending my sliders with the shipment he did not. He was supposed to call me for payment at the same time he sent me the tracking number. But he did not. If you will notice the going theme with Alex at AOE is "HE DID NOT" I would make sure that anyone deciding to do business with him be aware of this.

Now onto the actual delivery of the bumper. He wrapped it in bubble wrap... Seriously, bubble wrap. Needless to say the front is nice and scratched up. I should have just had it delivered in bare metal and had it coated myself. You would think that at the very least he would have covered over any of the protruding pieces and corners with card board. To keep the edges from being scratched up.

Also there is no hardware with the bumper. Not sure if it fell out during shipping or what. But I am now going to have to go and buy hardware to mount the thing. Not a huge issue. I was planning on putting all Grade 8 bolts on it anyway. But he told me I would have hardware with it.

The lack of customer service blows my mind. Please anyone looking to deal with AOE or Alex read this thread. Educate yourself and then make a decision.

On the sliders I was promised. Part of the deal that Alex and I worked out for him to make it up to me. Was that he would deeply discount a set of sliders for me. He went so far as to send me photos of the sliders and confirm that my CAT/CON where on the passenger side and vertical mounted.

For him to not send them is ridiculously unacceptable. Alex, this is what you decided YOU wanted to do to make this ordeal up to me.

Here are some photos of how the bumper was shipped to me.

I'm actually surprised you got the bumper at all. This is a huge leap in progress for this thread.

Yeah, I agree. The bad thing is that it looks like it was rushed. There is so much weld splash on this thing it is not funny. And it is in areas that are most visible. I am going to have to re grind these areas and then probably have to have it powder coated again. Also he packed it in bubble wrap, and not even a lot of bubble wrap. It is scratched through to the bare metal in the spots that it was slid around on while being shipped.

As I said before. I should have just dropped him and been done with AOE and Alex when this thread was first started. I made the mistake of trying to work with him. The funny thing is, that the very thing that he came up with to make all these issues up with. He did not even follow through with.

I actually am planning on welding a plate over the area on the bumper that he has the AOE logo cut out on. I will not be telling anyone where this bumper came from. Without being able to tell them to steer clear of Alex and AOE.

Mine was scratched up in some places as well. Very frustrating. The bumper does not come with hardware. You use the existing bolts that hold on the stock bumper along with the 4 bolts used on the tow points underneath. Besides the weight of the bumper it's pretty easy to install. If you're doing a winch install the winch into bumper first before putting it on otherwise you will have to do it again.

I thought it was supposed to come with hardware and a 12v marine style plug.

He tells everyone something different. He told me plug and all the install hardware needed, I got none of this. Just a bumper, 4 1/2 months late scratched all up and bunch of headaches.

So for a total elapsed time of just over a week, I have a completely fabricated bar to my design going for blast and paint tomorrow vs Alex's extended procrastination for a product that would still require modifications to suit my vehicle...

They are projector housings, I got them off eBay, huge improvement over factory candles. I run 28w leds in the low beams and 55w hids in the high beam. Pic of low beam

That's a huge difference. Straight bolt in? Did you have to purchase the leds separately? I'm going to have to look into those. Another item to the list!

Yep straight swap, runs h1 size lamps, comes with halogens, but you just bin those ;) I've also changed the corner lights from parkers to indicators

Very nicely done. I like that a lot. I like how you didn't pull the corners back around the edge of the front fenders. I feel like that is a damage multiplier on the AOE bumper. I am peanut butter and jealous of your bumper. I have my AOE finally, but of course it was scratched all up and missing the plug and hardware he said it would be coming with.

Anyway, where did you get those fender flares?

Can you get the factory glass lens to work with those housings? I love my factory glass lenses.

Changed a few little things, that was the advantage of being there for the design process. Looking at the AOE now, I realise even more how much work I would have needed to do to it to make it suit. Here's the eBay link for the flares eBay Unfortunately the housing is a complete replacement for the factory lights, you may be able to retrofit projectors into them to keep the glass

Well well well, Mr Alex is still up to his sneaky tricks. Just got a call from my bank to say he had apparently tried to give them shipping information in the hope of getting the refund reversed. Told them I definitely have received neither a bar or any communication from Alex since the last time I tried to email/call, and that I'd ended up getting the bar made locally...:censor:
