I have two gauge clusters both from 1981 FJ60s I parted out years ago. I'm almost certain the oil gauge is bad in one of them from when I erroneously connected to the wrong terminal on the sending unit (look up hooking the wire to the bayonet on the sending unit).
One unit has super clear lenses and bright needles. This would be the one that most likely has the bad oil gauge. It also has a crusty bulb holder for one of the turn signals (see photo).
I don't have any reason to think the other unit (faded needles) has any problems, but the truck wasn't running that it came out of.
