Hey Jon, thanks for chiming in. No access to a real mechanic. The lock nut is in place, and the timing didn't change at all since Colorado, so the sudden flip is odd. My only thought there is that the altitude adjuster diaphragm might have kicked back, as I was literally camped on the shore last night. But I've been at this altitude for a few days. I also changed the timing during my analysis, and locked the nut down again. It ran like crap, then it was fine, then it ran like crap again, all the while the timing hadn't changed from its new setting. It seems to help, but it's not a cause (I believe).
Yeah, I hosed everything. The carb's new, and it runs fine above idle. I will hose it down again and see if that helps. There are two fuel filters, I changed the one closest to the tank, so that's new, and the second one is still looking good. Problem persists.
golf tee is still in the egr vacuum line. I tried reconnecting it, no success.
I also should note that the engine fuse is good (I was surprised it's only a 10 amp) and the fusible link "seems" to be good. Aka it's clean and the wires seem in relatively good form.
The ferry leaves for Kodiak in 45 minutes. I was supposed to be there an hour and 15 minutes ago. If someone were to tell me that it'd be like this for a while, I'd be fine with it. It's a pain in the ass but not critical. My concern is that the engine is giving me warning signs of something more serious, and it seems foolish to head over to Kodiak with the situation as it is.
