you know... I actually used some parts from a LHD 3rd gen 4runner wiper motor and I think they are exactly the same. parts swapped right over to my RHD 77. of course nothing electrical but the linkage and stuff and bushings inside were perfect fit.
interesting

Can the wiper motor be opened for lubrication? I've seen photos of the inside with crusty dry grease, I've also read it's non serviceable.
Another member recently opened/removed the motor part and did a grease cleanup as best he could. If I remember results were questionable. I haven’t installed the new one yet. When I do I plan on opening it up and see what I can find.

Also installed the folding windshield wiper arms. What are the chances of finding the nut caps🤣🤷‍♂️

Hello,

The nut caps break long before they have the chance to wander away...

Hand tight can be too much torque for those nuts.

Hello,

It is better to buy nuts and caps by the half dozen. The former break, the latter break or wander away.

Caps are tricky to install and remove. I keep forgetting there is a slit on the curved side for easy removal. When I remember the slit is there, I get overenthusiastic and next thing I know is that it is lost or broken.

Do you have to remove the hood to access the complete wiper system - all the internals below the windshield? I can't see any other way to do it. I want to maintenance the whole system and see if it needs replacing. Wipers are a bit slow. New motor looks

No hood removal required. Need a stubby or tight space philips screw driver to remove the 4 screws on the front side of the boot cowl cover. Regular philips screw driver to remove the two outer screws. Then you can maneuver the cover forward to unhook it then towards the windshield. Then remove the 3 screws on each wiper pivot. Then remove the two plastic covers. Then remove the bolts on the wiper motor and with enough play you can pry the arm off at the motor. Remove motor. With careful finagling remove the wiper assembly. Installation is the reverse. Pretty tricky getting the arm snapped back on the wiper motor. Make sure the wiper arm swivels are located properly before attaching to the wiper motor. This is looking at the arm attached to the wiper motor. It’s very tight in there. I was able to use a long ish pry bar, with lots of tape on the end, to pop the end back on the motor.

Observation. Fits ok as a passenger seat, not so good for the drivers seat. The seat back is significantly thicker than the factory seat which limits a already limited sliding back of the seat.
The planted brackets are way taller than the factory height. Might drill new holes in the front brackets, but might affect the level fit of the bracket. Actually looking at it drilling new holes won’t work either because of the angle of the dangle 😐
