Can anyone tell me a simple way to check if the second barrel of the carb is working? It's obviously vacuum operated, and I guess only when under load at resonably high rpm, so can't really be checked visually.

The reason I ask is because I can't notice any power improvement with the throttle wide open as compared to before the "2nd pressure" on the pedal.

Thanx

Thanks. I've read endless posts from a search on "Aisin Carb", but who would have thought I needed to search for "Paper Clip". Smetimes you need a little knowledge before the search function is helpful...

All good - the paper clip trick is a good one - simple and effective. So the diaphram was working OK, but it seems that it just releases the butterfly to open by suction through the carb. Or maybe there is a spring just so old and weak it's not working well. But there was a fair bit of mud & gunge around making the butterfly quite stiff to rotate, so after a good clean-up and generous spray with WD40, it seems to all be working normally. Thanks for the quick response to the original question!
