Argggh. I bought the new belt from Toyota and it will not go on to the pulley.
My pulley has three bolts and the pulley blocks the adjusting bolt so it cant be removed without taking the pulley off the air pump.
Is my pulley too big? The ones I have seen in pics. look way smaller in diameter. I have searched all night with no avail.
Please help!

there's got to be a way to loosen/tighten the adj bolt. pics would help. even if you got the belt slipped on, you would need to tighten the pump.

Ok here are my pics. I forgot to measure the pulley diameter.
I can loosen the bolt it just cant be removed.

This is as far as I can pull the belt with the tension fully released.

Is my pulley too big or is there a different belt than the one Toyota has?
Thanks

:bang:is it really that hard???t buy a bigger belt:doh:
No duh Sherlock.
I am searching part numbers. The best I am getting is a Cali. belt.
I want to use the Toyota belts.
I dont want to afro engineer it either.

just go to the parts house and they can measure that one and give you one thats long enough. whats the big deal????

Your old belt that fit was Toyota?
Are there any numbers printed on it to give to your OEM parts seller?

Looks like your new one has some info on it. Most likely there is length info there that any parts guy worth his salt should be able to look up and get you the next longer version.

Good luck

No, it was a incorrect belt that was too narrow. I will go to Toyota tomorrow.

Take the wrong belt to a NAPA or other decent parts house, have them measure it and get one a couple inches longer.

:meh:

That happened to me once. The parts guy got confused and gave me a belt for factory air conditioning. So it's probably just a mix-up of part numbers and/or reading the microfiche wrong. Take it back to them and try again.

some things are just too hard for people to understand so we all need to ponder over this. i hope i know when the light changes so i can go.

and yes hes a dick

Not everybody is cool with going with an aftermarket generic solution. His truck has almost 0 modifications to it, so he figured that an OEM Toyota belt should work. When it didn't, he asked why. You didn't answer his question, you gave him a solution he didn't want. I'm not defending his response, but some of you guys aren't listening to what he's asking.

i did listen and hes a dick because he said that he did not want to afro rig it

as far as the belt goes maybe its the wrong part number but why spend all this time on it just go to napa and fit it. i would have had it running in about five minutes before posting this

Post up some more pictures of your engine area/intake/exhaust manifold, etc.
