Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could get a measurement for the hole in the air injection nozzle (the part that threads into the head). The rail I grabbed for my 1980 resmog has all the nozzles brazed closed and I was hoping to just simply drill them out. Appreciate the help!

still in Missoula? I can mail you a clean set.

Hey Paul, I've been meaning to get in touch with you about some other smog parts, but you know life happens. PM me a price for the nozzles and I'll send you my address too.

They're not really "nozzles", they're just flared tubing. Drill hole as big as you dare. I don't know what the ID of 3/8 brake line tubing would be, but you could measure it. 1/4" is a pretty good guess. Maybe start with 3/16".

That was what my initial impression was, but without seeing an unmolested one, I figured I would double check. They are only brazed at the tips so whatever bit fits nicely in the rest of the tube, I suppose would be the right size.

Is your resmog going to have to translate out the tailpipe, or just for visual? (see where I'm going with this...)

If you're going to have the pump, there's no reason not to have the exhaust smell better. An air injection pump is no harder to maintain than an alternator, and easier to fix than the water pump.

I wouldn't desmog even if I didn't have to pass biennial checks.

Eventually going to have to pass CO front range emissions, so I assume a sniffer. Also as Eddy said, going to be running the pump so the air has to go somewhere ;).
