I agree with reffug.
Replace it with OEM
K&N works great for short term racing applications but not for longivity.
Plenty of threads on here. Search is your friend.
I ran a K&N in my 4Runner for quite q while till I had to replace the MAF sensor for $125 because it had become over run with dust and oil from the K&N. Go OEM!
Run a rag though your plastic intake tube a few times after you dump that K&N.. get all that oil crap out of there. Good time to clean the TB too, then enjoy your fresh start!
I ran a Finer Filter in my HJ60 and it ran great. A bit messy to clean but a $$saving over a couple of years of dusty dirt roads. When I got my HZJ80 I put the same filter in and it wasn't as good. Less power and economy so I went back to paper filters. A mate is running a K&N in his diesel 100 with a 1HZ motor same as mine but a lot younger and mine has way more get up and go on the hills. So I reckon stick to the paper ones and change them on a regular basis. Might cost a bit more but morer power is better..
Yes, replace, remember that one of the advantages to the K&N was that you can wash and re-use them, well guess what, Toyota's new air filters can do the same thing without all the added oil. Call CruiserDan and get an OEM washable filter; they are the best of both worlds. HTH.
