My 2008 Land Cruiser is saying Check Air Conditioner on the screen and is not cooling. I did the thing where you can hold down Auto and Re-Circ to pull the AC codes. It showed 45. I have searched the internet high and low and can't seem to find what that code means. Can somebody help me out? Thanks!

I strongly advise finding someone with Techstream to pull the real codes out of the vehicle. A Bluetooth OBD module may suffice, depending on the model and software. Those codes will be much more useful for diagnosing things here.
That said common issues: cabin filter not installed correctly (DONT move the door by hand, use the recirc button!!), broken recirc door (see last point), if your vehicle has corrosion the refrigerant lines to the rear unit can spring a leak

So the cabin filter door appears to need fixing, because it doesn't open and close using the recirc button. It appears to be off center. But when the door is closed all the way, the AC light blinks and the AC doesn't work. So, I wonder if I have two problems going on here.
I suggest first fixing the broken filter door using the solution sold at this site, then making sure the filter is installed correctly. If the AC still doesn’t work, check the system for adequate refrigerant charge and for leaks

I will buy that part so I have it when I get under the dash. Thank you. I manually closed door after it wouldn't with the recirc button. I disconnected the battery, reconnected it, and on the second start, with the lights on auto and recirc, the AC started working again. I am going to refrain from touching a thing until I have a free weekend. It is too hot in south Florida right now to chance having it turn off again. The other thing that has been going on for a little while, is that the car struggles to cool at stoplights. It cools great while moving. Is that a compressor thing?

Hey guys. I wanted to circle back on this. So, I have owned this 2008 Land Cruiser for 10 months now. I don't think I had realized how loud the blower motor was, especially idling at stoplights. It then rapidly went bad within a week, rattling, then stopping. I replaced the blower. The truck is noticeably quieter now. I did mess up the cabin filter door by manually moving it. I bought the part you guys suggested above to have on hand, just in case, but didn't end up needing it. The arm had popped out but didn't break, so I just popped it in. So, 95% of the time, the AC system works perfectly now, is quiet and cools well, but twice a month here in the summer, I have an issue that I wonder if it has to do with a fan. If it is really hot here in south west Florida and I am running errands, where I would turn off the truck and come back out quickly to start again, The AC light won't come on and won't cool. The temperature gauge is good, but I am pretty sure I read somewhere that if some fan isn't working correctly, it could possibly cause this issue. Can anybody tell me what fan this would be? Thanks guys!
