I bent the front axle housing on Marmaduke last summer and I finally have my Diamond housing under the rig. I need new shocks up front and in searching for those found air bump stops.
These seem like a good idea if I understand their use correctly. The reason I bent my housing was because of a hard hit on the rubber bump stops. These air stops act as a one way shock (no return pressure) to "soften" the blow.
Do I have that correct?
How are they set up for suspension travel? My rig is SOA on Dakkar springs with about 3"-4" up travel and 10" down. I assume that you set them on or near the spring/axle where you want to limit the up travel at the top of the stops travel? That reads confusing.
for a 2" travel stop I would want to have an inch between my spring (or axle) and the bottom of the stop assuming a 3" up travel limit?
I have been looking at the bilstiens as I think I am going with a set of 7100 series for shocks.
is this a good move, or am I wasting my money? Should I be looking at another brand/style? (for both the shocks and stops)
Thanks
