Email from dude in Aus-land June 2003
Brendan,

Offroad the ride is generally similar to coils, I pump the bags to ~60 psi
which gives ~6" lift. The reasoning for this is at 100psi (max recommended
pressure) the bags are fully inflated and don't compress or extend much more,
this really limits the trucks articulation (flex). With ~60psi I still get
good flex but not as good as coils.

The bags that are installed on my truck are from the Firestone Airide
Trailer/Truck series of Rolling sleeves / Bellows. I have the model numbers at
home will find and let you know.

Onroad I drop the height equivalent to a ~2" lift, the ride is good and the
truck doesn't wallow like some trucks I've seen on the road. Also I set the
Ranchos to 2 and have the swaybars connected. As for mpg, I don't think there
is much difference.

....
I still believe a well setup coil / shock setup is better offroad, but that
setup may not be good onroad so I have gone for the compromise. I would
recommend my setup to other people but it all depends on what they use their
truck for.
....This setup replaces the springs so the coils have to go, if you want to keep
the springs you would have to go a setup where the air bags are installed next
to the coils on custom mounts.

Offroad I pump the bags up for extra clearance, and in some situations I can
lower or raise one side, front or back (individually adjustable in each
corner) Geoffrey knows of a situation @ Wheelbarrow Ridge. Adjusting for off-
camber is possible but I haven't bothered to do so yet.
Onroad I let the bags back down for less wallow at highway/road speeds and to
get under the 4X4 unfriendly carparks.

Let me know if you want to know more, I'm happy to go into it further.

Heres a picture of Alan Podvins airbag (in his 80/100? can't remember which)

Please post back any info u find as I'm interested in the coil+airbag option
