Hi All:

I have had 100 series LXs for a long time and also have had a 2017 LX570 for 8 years now. I used to change the AHC fluid on the old ones every 50k or so miles or so, but it is harder to do on the new one, so I asked the dealer to do that. They told me that you are not supposed to change the fluid on the newer ones unless there is a problem, and that doing so is a bigger job and would cause issues potentially.

I have heard this theory on transmission fluid flushes, but how do you all feel about this for AHC fluid? If anyone really truly knows the answer to this instead of random opinions, that would be especially appreciated...thanks in advance!

That's terrible advice. The only thing that makes it harder from your 470 is that reservoir isn't under the hood like the 100-series AHC trucks. Changing your fluid will often times remedy ride quality issues, slowness of adjustment, and make the system last for a very long time.

The manual says to change it every 60k miles. I'd take that advice over a lazy service advisor.

Lazy dealer. As mentioned above, the interval is supposed to be 60k miles. Hopefully there is someone else in your area with the knowledge to properly service your AHC, or you can do it yourself. Pretty easy, just a little messy (I can't manage not to spill any juice). There are good resources on this forum and youtube to DIY fluid change.

:edit: also, since you're in Ohio, I hope you're undercoating your truck and AHC hardware every winter. Rust is usually what eventually kills AHC dead. Lack of maintenance will just wound it.

I have so little respect for dealers that this does not surprise me at all.

It literally says every 60k in the maintenance manual in the glove box
