I have a wierd problem with my ahc system on my 99 hdj100. The off light is flashing the first five to ten minutes of driving, but only when the outside temperature is close to freezing.
I have replaces rear coils, reart hydraulic shock, all four AHC accumulators and flushed the system. The front shock are good.

After those ninutes of driving everything is as it should be.

I can mention that before i changed accumulators the ride was bumpy during the time the ligh flashes, but now the ride is smooth, but it won't let med use the ahc up or down.

Can there be something in the pump that mskes the oil thick or stiff in the begining before the enginebay heats up?

Hope someone can point me in the righ direction!

It would really be best to test your system with some diagnostics so you can see the different pressures and activations of the different valves. Since you’ve replaced a bunch of other items, it sounds like the pump is having trouble when it is cold. Nothing in the system makes the oil thicker and the oil is spec’s so it should work fine in very very cold temperatures. Are you sure you do not have air in the system anywhere?

Thanks!

Im not sure about the air no, but after two flushings with alot of bleeding there should not be any air.
I reed something here about one guy who found a black ish oil in the pumphouse, thats why im asking.

Black oil comes from the breakdown of metal and rubber components. is the filter in the tank clean and no gelling? If you have flushed and your fluid is clean, it’s now about finding the failed component before it contaminates the oil. I don’t think I’ve ever read about anybody doing it but back in the day we used to have to degas hydraulic mtb brake oil to get better performance. Did you use any vacuum or pressure to fill the system? Similar to coolant systems that get an air bubble that’s impossible to remove, vacuum or pressure bleeders can make it a lot easier. Since the pump works when warm I would be looking at the pump motor or gel. You could also rule out vibration making the pump work after driving by hitting it with a heat gun before driving it to see if that gets it going..

No, i fill oil direcly from the can into the tank and let the systen do the rest when starting up the truck!

The heatguntrix was smart so i will do that!

Is there any ecu located on the floor inside the car? I also have a feeling of that if i put the heat to the floor the ahc works betther! This may be just an illusion for sure 😅
