Can folks who have aftermarket roofracks please post close-up shots of how the rack mounts to the roof? I have an INTI 3/4 expedition rack originally built for an FJ62 that I'd like to adapt to the UZJ100. I took some measurements and it looks like I'll have to take off the INTI gutter mounts and make my own sub-frame out of three crossbars, which I'm going to make out of aluminum to keep the weight down.

Anyway, if someone can share some pics, I'd appreciate it, I am in the early planning phase for this truck but want to have all my research done before pulling the trigger.

Have you considered adapting the 100 series AO mounts and/or loadbars?

While on the subject of the AO products, I've got a couple of questions:

1) Will the AO rack and/or roof load bars fit a 2006 LX-470 (I've got the factory rack which would obviously have to be removed)? Slee's site only mentions 98+ Land Cruiser. His site also mentions "roof track mount" - is that part of the AO product or something the Land Cruiser should already have?

2) Roughly how heavy is the full length African Outback rack? Is it something 2 good sized guys can reasonably handle?

3) Is it pretty easy to mount / unmount these racks, leaving the tracks in place? My goal would be to only mount it when I need it and normally keep it off to improve gas mileage. Oh, and I'm not sure it would fit in my garage with the rack mounted :).

1) Don't know

2) Roughly 40 lbs. The rack is all aluminium and surprisingly light. No problem for two guys, although it can be awkward to lift it up and over the truck without something to step up on.

3) Not all that easy to unmount. 12 locking nuts and then you have to slide the bolts out of the track. The nuts are not easy to access with a regular socket (studs too long) or deep socket (not enough room under the rails), and lining everything up when you remount the rack isn't easy for one person. I originally thought I'd remove my rack when not using, but after removing it once I decided to leave it in place semi-permanently.

I love the rack and would completely recommend it. Very strong and well built. The sunroff hatch is a nice feature if you decide to leave the rack mounted.

Henry got a 100......I'll be damned :) congrats! :) wecolme to the old and soft LC club :) (ya know, nice ride, power, dual AC, heated seats, leather and stuff like that)

Thanks! It's the nicest vehicle I've ever owned, I've had a grin plastered on my face every time I drive it! :)
