I am on the hunt to replace my 1999's headlights. I took a rock to the glass of one headlight, then I cracked another on a branch wheeling... in stead of trying to fix both with OEM and spending big $$$ just to get back to factory (which I always found lacking) I am looking at an upgrade.

I am curious as to what people have used, if they would buy them again and why...

Here are a few I am looking at but I am sure there's more out there?

eBay Lights

Another set of eBay Lights

I am curious about the projector conversions too if anyone can recommend a quality kit?

What else is out there are the Depo lights still available?

LB BuiltWerks - Design - Fabrication - Retrofit Lexus LX470 Headlights is a forum member who has developed a true projector retrofit and will sell you a new set of stock headlights with retrofit already installed, plug and play.

No dice for the LC guys, looks rad if you have a LX!

He only has LX headlights available. I wouild love it if he had LC lights available as well.

@REZARF have you seen the 7" round conversion at 7" Headlights | land cruiser grilles

Yeah, the 7" rounds are not my thing. They are cool, just not for me.

@REZARF I am in the same boat as you (except my lights are not cracked) Maybe someone who upgrades to the round lights will sell you their old headlights?

Best thing is a projector retrofit -

I am a HUGE Depo fan. I have the one piece design with the black trim on my vehicle and it really updates the look of the Cruiser. This is also a great time to upgrade the headlights to HID if you are at all technically savvy. The light out of the D2S setup from TheRetrofitSource.com is incredible. They are as good as the factory LED headlights in my other vehicle. @ranma21 sells the Depos.

Also good news on the Depos, it looks like Ranma just got a new order in stock.

Yup DEPO head lamp and Eagle Eyes LED tail lamp are available, waiting for custom clearance and local custom warehouse loading. Should be able to pick them up early next week =)

The headlights were already installed in my vehicle with bi xenons HIDs replacing the lows and maintaining the stock high beams. If I were doing it myself, I would also replace the high beams with 2 more HIDs. I cannot think of another setup that is road legal that would be better than quad bi xenons. Do you have the high low beam shutter mechanism on all 4 HIDs?

Hi Ranma21,

I sent you a message. I'd like to order a set of the HIDs for an LX.

Thanks

confused on the D2S setup...
under the D2S page when entering 99 LC, I get this msg.
BUYERS GUIDE:
  • BUMMER!IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE WE'VE GOT ANY PRODUCTS FOR YOUR VEHICLE IN THIS CATEGORY, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE OUT OF LUCK!

does the D2S HID work with factory harness or does it require the entire new kit?
What are the part#'s you ordered?

That is just for the parts that are purpose built for a vehicle that they are saying bummer they don't have. You will be doing a retrofit using a universal kit. Here is the link to the D2S kit.https://www.theretrofitsource.com/bixenon-morimoto-mini-d2s-stage-3.html It comes with a conversion wire harness. You want either the 9005/9006. I am not 100% sure that the D2S fits in the factory housing. I have the Depo 1 piece headlights on my 100. The D2S definitely works in the Depo low beam position.

Got a build thread? Good looking 100 man

Sorry, never did do/start one though I meant to at some point. It's been a work in progress for 10 years with three different rack setups, a couple suspension variations, two rear bumpers, two drawer setups, several battery configurations etc. etc.

I guess I'll do a build thread when it's "done". :cautious:
