Was wondering how hard would it be to change the logo to something else? I'm thinking since it has to be there anyway, have it be customizable? Im thinking nick names of cruisers, IH8MUD, VIN, etc etc... Maybe charge a bit extra?

Just thinking... :hhmm:

That video was impressive. If you'd been drinking anything stronger than a PBR, I'm not sure you'd have missed the windshield. If I'd been doing the swinging, you'd have seen me wearing goggles or a welding helmet, just in case.

TheCrazyGreek beat me to the punch with his suggestion. Speaking only for myself, I don't want to display an advertisement for someone's business or web site on a highly visible replica part.

I understand the creative attempt to deal with the void in your mold but if something has to be there, I'd suggest that it be "Toyota FJ 40," or "TEQ-FJ 40," or something that at least appears to be authentic.

What is the difference to a pre 72 dash. Would this work for a Jan 71

Length of dash is different. I am planning on building one but that is a long time coming. I have a buddy who has a 71 and will take measurements for the tooling.

He hit's me up everytime we talk about making one for his fj40. So there is some motivation there. He took one of the prototypes and put it up against his. He said it wouldn't fit.

I only had the PBR for demonstration purposes. I don't drink PBR unless someone busts a case of it then I try to give it away. One of my brothers jumped my case today about the video. He was mad because he says that the video makes everyone in Kansas look like were Hillbilly's.

I'd really rather you put the logo off to the side, but I may crumble and order one, I'm going to try to hold out and see if you make one with it off on the side where the door hides it or something... Even if it was over the passenger side, but right there it'd drive me crazy. :)

$275 is a fine price point.

P.S> My wife says someone needs to make a little FJ40 bezel to glue in over the logo then it'd be extra cool...

I'm the FNG, but I'm fine with the logo.

Could that space be left blank, and someone come up with self sticker with names, FJ40, LANDCRUISER , Toyota, or anything else, I realize the need for the area being there as a mold production problem, but an add your own touch to that area may work better than advertisement.

Just thunking also!!

Now that's an idea!!! Would that be possible?

I just ordered one. Thanks,
It is for a 69 fj40. So how many have you sold? I am a wine guy. When you want to trade for wine let me know. I have a 72 that could use a new dash pad.

I am getting a lot of questions as to where people can buy them. I posted the website earlier but I don't think people are going back through the posts to find it. It's easier to do it again rather than reply back to the e-mails and pm.

The website is FJ40 Dash Pad Thats a zero in 40 not an O

I am going to sell them on e-bay but for much more. I have only posted the website on ihmud. Therefore, members on this website will get them cheaper (I guess viewers as well, but paying members of this website support this site because of it's value to them.)

The dash is for 9/72 to 10/82 [/B]fj40's and I think they will fit a 45. I've never been around a 45 so I can't say for sure, but I'm betting someone on here will know. I have tried to avoid the issue of someone ordering it for an older fj40 with Big Bold letters and numerous descriptions stating what it fits. I imagine in people's excitement they and are not seeing it and quickly clicking purchase.

The video is on the website as well. Man you really don't feel as old as you look!! I watched that video and think who is that old man! God that guy looks old. Tired too!

When I read the post I just did, the link doesn't come out the way you type it in. Therefore I am spelling it out with no www

Website address is fj40dash.com Hopefully that will come across. The word pad is not in the website's address.

you can edit your 1st post to include the web address, maybe that will help for the people who do a search.

Just what is the difference with the pre 9/72 dash? Earlier someone said the early dash is a different length I think. Does it have something to do with the metal rib that is spot welded to the metal dash?

Is the difference something that someone with fab skills can deal with? Such as modifying the metal rib to fit?

Can someone give some details please?

Don

I'm ready to hit the "buy now" button as soon as someone says this will fit my 3/72 fj40. Who's going to be the first to test it out?

It won't fit.

The product only fits 9/72 through 10/82.

I have attempted to make that clear on the web-site fj40dash.com in the product listing, description, and with big bold letters. I will be starting on the earlier version sometime, just have too many irons in the fire.

By the way, I put it on e-bay for considerably much higher price. I have had some e-mails where people are commenting that they were following the thread but didn't like where I priced it at. I think most people come in on the last page and read it but don't go back through the thread.

Once again the price on the web-site is $275. Price on ebay is $350. I have only provided a link the web-site on IH8MUD therefore it will be less expensive for people here.

Thanks!

I understand that your pad doesn't fit the earlier FJ40. My question was WHY? Just saying it won't fit doesn't work for me, I need to know the details. Do you have pics that can help me understand?

Handcannon,

In one of the previous posts I explained that there is a length difference. The only way I know that is I had my buddy take one of the prototypes and compare it to his on a 71. I don't remember which one is longer but if memory serves me correct it is approximately 2 inches. There could be other differences as well. I was hoping that someone on here would know more. I do not own an earlier version landcruiser but have a buddy that has one. I've worked on them but never paid the dash much attention. When I tear his dash apart I will be more knowledgeable on the earlier model. That's all I know. I don't have any pics of an earlier version lc dash. I posted pics early in the thread of our dash and one was mounted.

I'm not trying to be rude in any of these posts. However, it does get frustrating as alot of the questions have been discussed in earlier posts.

The reason I was trying to explain about the product listing is that I have been having people order them for earlier landcruisers or e-mail, pm, or post about getting it for an older cruiser. I thought I would attempt to save myself some frustration and time by stating it again.

When I find out what the difference is I will post it. Still can't believe someone hasn't come in on this thread to enlighten us on it.

There has been interest in the earlier version. I still am unsure whether it justifies tooling or not. Oh and before somebody comes back and says "This is a labor of love!" It's a labor of love when I'm working on a landcruiser but when I'm putting a good sum of money into tooling......I need return on investment. The analogy would be for me to ask you to come to work for me for a week and tell you I'm only going to pay you five bucks an hour because it's a labor of love.

My buddy just called me back regarding the older version of cruiser. Based off what he told me the older cruiser's have a longer dash. He said that the holes for the knobs don't match up. He was holding the prototype up to the mounted dash on the older lc. I'm assuming then the bolt holes won't match up either. When we tear it off I will slap one of mine up there and know more.
