Looks like a good product & I would guess if someone was willing to spend $250they'd go $300. For some folks, the logo thing might be a deal breaker. BTW, what does your logo look like? Any close ups of it? What's its dimensions? Folks might be able to have a personalized plaque made for that spot or maybe you can get IH8MUD to offer 1.

For future videos you dont't have to spell it out "I hate mud".

I'd buy one at the $300 mark, it looks good and I'm sure it's stronger than OEM. My 40 is an early '72, 02/72 I think, anyway the dash is different than the later dash if I recall.

I think that Specter was selling the OEM dash for closer to $600. Does anyone know what the differences are? I think that the only difference is the dash light. If there was a version available for the earlier FJ40, I'd be in.

Oh yeah, no logo! :)

How hard would it be to make one for a 55 series? I think all that's available for it is a dash cap that looks ok, but it adds an extra layer and the glue looks like it can come undone, etc. A brand new dash for those would be pretty nice.

I would have to take a look at it. I got a customer of mine involved in Cruisers and he got a 55, actually I know he has two but may have three now.

He want's me to mold a dash for them. So I would say the chances are pretty good in the future. Got a lot of irons in the fire and I don't see it happening any time soon.

By the Way, I am 99.9% finished with the web-site. It's out there right now just haven't updated it so google can find it. That usually takes several days for the spiders to find you.

Just wanting to make sure that it is right before I tell you guys about it. Just got UPS shipping set up today and Paypal. You will be able to use a credit card but you will have to go through Paypal. Not that big of a deal. I think I got it set up where you pay actual shipping and handling (Not trying to rape anyone there either! I hate buying something and then paying $15 - $25 handling) Handling charges have become a avenue of revenue for some of these companies. It has turned me off on some e-bay sellers.

Boys and Girls......

I appreciate some of the ideas and opinions you have expressed in this thread back to me. I have been vague and not forthcoming when asked direct questions as to: Where can I get one? How much are they? Private messages, e-mails, etc.

The reason is: I wanted your opinions and comments but do not want to soft sell here in the tech forum. Woody has put out explicit comments on this. Heck, I've saved a lot of money over the years utilizing this web-site to easily justify a silver or gold membership (I think most of us could say that and strongly encourage everyone to Anty up!!) So as I've said before I need to complete the vendor package to help support the website. I am not trying to be evasive but at the same time I have to get my ducks in a row. I realize this isn't happening as fast as some of you would like, almost being a teaser. However, I own several businesses and my time extremely stretched thin. Heck, its 12:53 Sunday morning and I just got home from one of the businesses. I will get this completed in the next couple of days and get some answers back to you.

I've had a couple of scotch and waters and tend to get philosophical about this time (according to my wife, but it is tied to a business!!! Product testing!!! God you gotta love research and put in the time). By the way did you notice what I was holding when I did the video? It was a good ole PBR! Once again product testing!

Thanks for the input......Man this scotch is good!!!

You should offer a $20 discount to the people who are paid members (or charge $20 more for those who aren't). If the wealth of knowledge and info here isn't incentive enough for people to anty up, that might be.

Yeah, really. They've offered a soft replacement dash pad for quite a while. Here it is from 2008. Perhaps the new shipment isn't available until late spring. :meh:

TPI was selling this product in 2006. IIRC the price was around $200 at that time. I came close to buying one but decided to divert the bucks to a set of Bilsteins.

I guess FJGoober could sell the new dash with the logo to everyone who wants one, and then later, when the demand drops off, eliminate the logo and sell those to the rest of us..

Scotch

What kind of scotch? Blended, single malt? I love a good Chivas with just a splash if water. Good luck!

Inver House or Clan McGregor or is MacGregor. Own a liquor store as well and drink the cheapest scotch we sell. On occasion I will drink Jameson (Irish though but I do like it) and Glen Levitt (Probably messed up the spelling) or Chivas.

I like the cheap stuff because it's not as smooth. I've drank cheap scotch for so long the "Good Stuff" is too smooth.

Got my money in to ih8mud. Thw wife and kids won't be able to eat for a couple of weeks. Just jacking around there, it is very reasonable. Website is done FJ40 Dash Pad you can order using paypal. I was only able to mold 8 before I had to switch chemistries over for OEM production. I know you will be satisified with the product. Please note on the website instructions on cutting out the dash light. This chemistry is very tough and take your time.

There is a logo on the pad. If you click on the product to enlarge and then click again it will show it. I am limited by how many pictures I can show for the product so I had to innovate on how to show you the logo. The logo is fj40dash.com

We also explain other aftermarket products that we are working on. However, keep in mind that all of these are gravy......the bread and butter of our business is OEM. This stuff is just playing around.

I hope you guys like it otherwise, as I've said before, I may have just created the most expensive aftermarket dash in history.

Sea Knight.....I'm curious to see what you thought about the video? You hold your tongue pretty good but I would love to know what you think.

LOGO

You asked for a picture of the LOGO.

Here it is. It is not that big. As I explained in an earlier post I really didn't want to put a logo in the dash in the first place but it was the most economical way to overcome a porosity problem in the casting of the tool. The tool has such a deep draw in such a short cross section that it lends itself to porosity. I suspected that we might have an issue with this early on but you never know especially when it's custom casting vs. production casting of aluminum.

Congrats on getting your project to market!

Not sure about your acting skills, but if you could recreate that hammer experiment and 'accidentally' hit the windshield, you might go viral. My first reaction was, he's gonna hit the windshield. Then after the video, I was thinking that it would have been awesome (and emailed to all of my friends) had you hit the windshield. No offense or harm intended to your windshield. A swear word whispered by your camera person would have sealed it.

Was wondering how hard would it be to change the logo to something else? I'm thinking since it has to be there anyway, have it be customizable? Im thinking nick names of cruisers, IH8MUD, VIN, etc etc... Maybe charge a bit extra?

Just thinking... :hhmm:
