I am considering of moving from the 2020 LC to a 2021 LX and in researching the lights, it looks like the AFS system is no longer part of the LX lights. Do I have that right?

Yes. The AFS is quite a nice feature on my 14 but our 21 doesn’t have it.

I don't believe that our 2019 LX570 had it either, just the auto leveling feature.

2018 LX and does not have it either.

We had it on older Lexus and I never found it to be all that amazing, no love lost IMHO.

I have and I like it. I wouldn't call it amazing but it is definitely useful. I guess the newer LXs have upgraded lights so maybe they felt it wasn't needed.

It's a bit of a novelty but I can't say I don't enjoy watching AFS steering headlights lead the path on pitch dark nights on backroads. The fogs do well lighting the periphery too. The headlights are much more directional with more throw so I'm glad to have them steer. They weren't much lumens prior to upgrading with LEDS so I guess they made the most of available candle power.

Too bad the '16+ didn't get it, but aren't they multi-element LEDs? How's the dispersion and lighting on the periphery? Perhaps the lighting performance didn't require it?

I found the headlights in our 2019 LX570 to be more than adequate without, same to be said with the LC that just replaced it.

Yeah, there's plenty of throw to the sides, no real need for the AFS, IMO.

Why the change from LC to LX? Need more creature comfort?

Yeah, its a story mostly of creature comforts. Also, its been a while since I have dealt with a Toyota service department - the amount of time they expect you to waste is pretty amazing. The Lexus guys just come and get with a flat bed.
