Advice on service? Is this crazy???

I'm in the market to get a complete 100k service on my 100.
Here is a current estimate from a shop here in Colorado.
~$2500 for the complete service? Does this seem right?
Any advice or other shop recommendations would be great. Thanks!

Those prices sound reasonable. A LOT of that price is labor, and a lot of that work is not tough to do yourself even if you've never picked up a wrench, such as the diff, tc, oil, air filter, plugs, driveshafts, can save yourself a lot of $$$ that way.

I'd usually recommend Robbie (powderpig on the ih8mud forums) over anyone else for any type of LC service- he's generally regarded as the best Cruiser mechanic hands down by the 80s mud community, but he's out having fun with the FJ Cruiser trail team! Definitely contact him via PM when he returns, though!

isn't the starter up top? if so, wouldn't part of that labor be the same as for the timing belt?

How about, buy a repair manual and do this yourself. Whats so hard about changing a waterpump? Fuel filters cost 10 bux, and there probably the easiest to replace.

that was my thought as well. and $17 labor to install an air filter? do people really charge for this stuff?

Unfortunately the only overlap for the T-belt and Starter is the intake hose/top half of air box. Everything else is completely seperate. I will with hold comment on the a/f and greasing of the driveshaft labor

Water pump is not bad, however one thing to remember, If you're not comfortable digging into the engine quite deep, as the water pump is driven by the timing belt so it has to come off. The 2UZ is an interference motor, meaning if the belt is not reinstalled correctly valves will most likely be bent. So that being said this is no chevy water pump or even a 2F w/p for that matter.

And if you can find a $10 fuel filter I don't want it on my truck. Remember that filter is protecting about $1800 worth of fuel injectors. Only toyota in that spot, filters down to 4 microns. Japan says filters are lifetime, their gas is better and their lifetime is 3-4 years.

Replace the fuel filter with toyota as stated above and they are not lifetime here in the US. Its cheap insurance.
