Hey,

I'm looking to run power from my 2nd battery to the rear of my sequoia now that I have solar in place. I picked up a Blue Sea Blade Fuse Block 6 but was thinking I may need to get a on/off battery switch or a circuit breaker but not sure if that's overkill. Do you prefer one over the other? Can you recommend one?

Next I would be going from the fuse block to a power panel, I'm looking just to get one with 2 USB, lighter socket, voltmeter and it seems there a a ton of options. Is there panel that someone recommends? I wouldn't need it to be water proof as it will be installed in the rear panel of the vehicle.

Finally what gauge of wire would I need to go from the battery to the circuit breaker and then to the fuse block and finally what gauge would I need to run from the fuse block to the back power panel? I would mostly use it to power my 32qt fridge, I may go bigger at some point but not yet.

I know there a ton of videos out there which I've seen but it only ads to the confusion as everyone does it a little different. If there is a better way of doing this I'm open to suggestions.

Thx

The wire calculator shows a 13.8v system running 10a can use 11ga copper wire 17' with a 5% voltage drop at 140°F.

I would size up one step to 10ga to get some safety margin. The 8ga suggested above would probably never give you any trouble.

Sounds great, thank you for the info.

You're wanting to run your system Battery---> breaker/switch--->fuse block---->rear panel?
what else are you running off of the fuse block?
ARB's fridge wiring kit is I believe 10AWG which is more than adequate.
If you're running more stuff off of your fuse block then you'll want a breaker that will handle the maximum amperage required at any given time. Meaning if you want to run your fridge at 10A and there may be an occasion where you have 4 lights, each at 7A and a CB at 5A, you'll want a 50A breaker.
If you're running a fridge and a 4-5A of USB you don't need a big breaker, or a fuse box really. That is something that can be done off of some 8AWG and an inline fuze. I had a panel like you described that I purchased, took the lighter sockets out, and put fast charge USB sockets in 2 spots, as well as, the ARB fridge plug in the 3rd spot. It is currently out of the rig because I wanted to make a cleaner mounting solution and haven't got around to it.

Hey, thanks for the reply and yes what you have listed up there is how I was going to set it up. These are the items I would probably be hooking up to the fuse block, so the panel which will have a 12v and 3 usb ports, voltmeter which would power my fridge, I was going to hook some small lighting for the interior, lights for the exterior, and then I was thinking weboost cell amplifier. I currently don't have weboost but was thinking might be worth it as I just use zoleo right now for my expeditions.
