Friend of a friend has asked me for advice on purchase of a Blizzard with 2LT engine. I have discussed the head issue in great detail as it relates to the LJ's...is it also a concern with the Blizzards?

is this gent from around comox? if so i had a good discussion with him a day or so ago on cell...
cheers

Yes I am that gent.

Is this exactly the same concern with the Blizzards?

Wayne, you mentioned ways to circumvent the overheating issue. This vehicle already has a pyrometer (I believe it was installed by your shop). Are there other things that can be done?

I'm getting it inspected today, but I have now become very leery about actually buying it.

More info please....

Will the $50 parts catalogue you mentioned for the Blizzard translate all the parts to North American numbers that I can get through a Toyota dealer or elsewhere?

On your website you described the Blizzard:

- 2LT (turbo charged 2.4L diesel)
- Very strong and reliable engine

Have any of the Blizzards had this same head issue?

Regards,

-Wendell

at the time i posted that info there were very few 2LT equipped trucks in NA. the reports from Japan was exactly what i posted and i knew of trucks in the US that had many hundreds of thousands on them.
the biggest problem (i found out later) was the heads dropping the valve seats which is exactly what happened to this one.
now the 2LTE has a serious head cracking issue.
with the new head that is on that truck as long as you are careful about the pyro temps and the cooling issues you should be fine...
cheers
