Love it! I'm always willing to travel to get exactly what I want. When I found the 2005 Subaru STi I wanted, which was 2 yrs old at the time with 4,900 miles I drove from NJ to NC to get it. Worth every hour and every dollar I spent. The Cruiser will no doubt be a similar story.

Hehe. I'll take some pics of the Subaru next to the LC when I get it home and post 'em. My goal is to lift the LC so I can drive under it with the STi. Haha

I'm going to have one lightweight vehicle with 300hp that can't pull in most driveways w/o risking destroying the front bumper, and another with, well.....less than 300 hp, heavy, but can drive pretty much anywhere. :) And of course the Honda Odyssey minivan so we've got a car that gets above 20mpg. STi is lucky to get 17. LC - I hope for 14.

Nice color truck.

LOL on the Gulf Shores U-Haul. My parents used to owned a condo there, were lucky enough to sell it right before the last hurricane destroyed GS -- again.;)

(a WRX STi with modd'ed suspension = LOW car)

Nice to see another STi/WRX owner here. :steer: You will soon have the best of both worlds. Congrats!

Ok, this is getting weird now...Odyssey, 80, WRX owner here.

Crazy! The wife has a black/tan 2005 Odyssey EX-L with 93K miles, I've got an 05 STi in CGM that JUST hit 40K miles (all stock except suspension), and will have a 96 FJ80 w/129K miles from original owner in "steel grey" (don't know official color name). I love the van and my car, and can't wait to get the 80.

Just get in it and drive it man:steer:
Roll all the windows down and hit the highway @ about 80 MPH. When your about home hit a short trail and get to know it. Then go home and think what you can do to make it better for you. 10K miles later maybe change the oil once or twice. You already had some one inspect it.

Greatest comment ever

lol:cheers:

Congrats on the 80!

Looks like we have the same color and year on the FZJ80. That steel grey color is called Moonglow Pearl. We have an Odyssey EX-L as well except 07'. My WRX is an 04' with VF34 Turbo/Injectors/TMIC/Suspension, etc... You obviously have good taste in vehicles. :D

As far as the ride home, as mentioned previously, the PHH (Pesky Heater Hose) is a known failure spot in the cooling system on the 80. Just keep an eye on your water temp on the way back home and take a look at it when you can. Other than fluids and whats already been said you should be fine. X2 on the AAA membership.

I suggest that you make a slight detour west to Colorado and stop at Slee's shop for sliders, bumpers, suspension and some other misc. stuff, then turn around and head back to the east coast....of course picking up some tires on the way :)

Haha...slight detour to CO. Sounds like fun, but gotta be back in Jersey for a "kiddie party" at a farm on Saturday. Yes, there are still farms in Jersey. :p

Hehe, well I'm trying to break myself in slow. The car I've got now can barely get over potholes (a WRX STi with modd'ed suspension = LOW car), so I'm happy that I'll have a vehicle I can take into NYC and not get swallowed by the terrible roads.

Nice to see another STi/WRX owner here. :steer: You will soon have the best of both worlds. Congrats!

I sold an 04 WRX wagon to buy my 80, and still have my 07 WRX Wagon. Having an 80 and a WRX is my perfect car combo.

Good luck on your trip.

Hi All,
It seems my search for my LC has reached its end. :D After a crapload of weird encounters with LC owners that have title problems, I found a one owner 1996 in Ohio. I've hired a 3rd party inspector to go check it out with some special requests and it appears to check out fine.

So I've bought a plane ticket and will be driving it back the 500 miles to NJ. I plan on having the oil changed prior to leaving Ohio, but what other things should I do or watch out for? I want to also hit a Walmart or Pep Boys - what "stuff" besides extra oil, and maybe trans fluid should I get to be safe?

I'm beginning to put together a list of maintenance items I'll want to address once it's in my driveway. Looking forward to getting this truck, especially after driving a total of 10 hours round trip to Rhode Island to buy a truck that turned out to have no title. Ugh.

Thanks in advance all.

-Ed
Hey Ed,
Understand your frustration, I just went through ton of "lost title' scammers in my search for a Jeep wrangler. I am the technical manager at Fram, Prestone and Autolite. I would very carefully look at all functional fluids, check the trans fluid, (have it changed if it smells bad or looks very dark). Inspect the hoses, belts, tires and certainly make sure the radiator overflow bottle is topped off. The other posters suggestions are very good, making sure the spare and jack are in place, get a can of Prestone tire jackas a back up. If you have troube on the road or ned advice, my cell is 248-808-4551, I am a mechanic who owns a shop as well and certainly dont mind helping out. Be safe!

Congratulations!

By the time you get home, you'll be very happy with your purchase decision. These trucks are awesome. Very comfortable and a real pleasure to drive.

I have had mine since 97. I have driven it stock until this year and have put 200,000 miles on it. I am making mods so I can enjoy it at full potential but it will take you to incredible places in a stock setup.

Enjoy your ride home and get off-road!
