I would like some feedback on this LC. 90,000 miles on the odometer and was a recent trade-in for a new Lexus. According to the dealership that has it, they did the timing belt, water pump and new drive belts since the trade. The body looks good with only one small dent above the left rear tire. The undercarriage does not show any signs of current or old leaks. The test drive went well; no wierd noises and the tranny appears to shift smoothly.

Does anyone have any thoughts about the price vs year/mileage? Any thing else I should look at?

Lance:

For a comparison, I just bought a '00 Cruiser, Black, Tinted Windows, New Michelins, Serviced, 62k miles at a Nissan Dealer for $19800 + T T & T. It was originally a FL lease to a Toyota Dealer (for the General Manager) and only had 13k miles at the end of the 36 mo lease. Then it was sold to the next owner who had it in central TN for the next 3 years. He had it serviced and put about 49k on it. He traded it in for a new M35. I stole it at that price.

Honestly, I think you can do better on price for a white one. If it's the one you want, then try to talk them down to $20k or less. 90k isn't a lot of miles for one, but it's high for the market they're in. There's a black 99 in central AL that I found that has the rear locker, rear air, and 2004 OEM 18" alloys, tinted windows, 86k miles, and they're asking $18k OBO. I passed on that one b/c I wanted a '00+ for the ATRAC since my wife will be driving it as her DD.

Lexus tends to deal straight with customers, so ask for their lowest price. It doesn't hurt to ask for $20K, since it has 90K on it and many people consider that old. Still, I think it sounds reasonable at $23K. It is hard to beat good condition and maintenance when you plan to keep a vehicle for the long haul. I saw a lot of "super deals" when I was looking - until I found a really nice one for only a few $K more. In Colorado, you have ample opportunities to utilize the capabilities of the 100. You can check its value in Edmunds.com and go from there.

for comparison purposes, i sold my 2000 white with 64k back in march and got 23500 for it, all books, records, etc up to date, almost new tires. it was a cream puff and commanded a premium. just adding a little more confusion to your decision making process! :grinpimp:

ps i wish i had kept it as i am looking for another one right now :(

did you see THIS ONE IN TUSCON?

it's at a lexus dealer. 2000, Silver, 86k, $21,500 Buy It Now...

I got my 99' LC (this won't matter if you want the LX) for $16k total with T&T&T. it had 84k miles is a Texas truck, but it is burgandy and had limited records. Its been GREAT until the starter went yesterday... oh well....

Tomorrow I am checking out a 2000 LC with 42K miles. This will also involve a visit to Christo's shop for a peace of mind inspection if it passes my first visual inspection.

Don't overpay but do expect Colorado prices to be a little higher than Texas prices. Lots of demand for 4-wheel drive and plenty of soccer mom money around.

Take it to Christo for some mods but I doubt anything could be wrong with it at only 90k miles (even less likely at 42k). Check the Exhaust manifolds for cracks and look at the service records.

Take it at 20k. White is perfect.

Thanks guys. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hey, I bought my LX at that exact same dealer from the same guy (fleet/internet manager). I bought at the end of the month. I showed up at the dealership, inspected the fluids/condition & undercarriage on the first visit. The guy figured I was serious about buying, so they dropped the price from their "dream price" to their bottom line to move it before the end of the month. They wouldn't budge any further in the negotiations after the test drive on that price. Their price was fair, IMHO, and they didn't jerk me around. Make sure you know how much it will cost to ship it. You can check CarFax to see if the LC is a AZ LC by where it was registered. I've been happy with this dealership (just got the AHC & brakes flushed there yesterday). Had I read this article two days ago, I could have checked it out for ya. Sorry...

Just a heads up if you can wait until Labor day weekend time that will be the very best time to buy a LC/LX. Gas prices are the highest. The projection for labor day is over $4.00 per gallon. They will be pricing them to move!!!

You think $4 from just demand only and not events in the Middle East/hurricanes in the Gulf? Chevron 91 here in So. AZ dropped to $2.99 last week. Oil would have to hit $100+/barrel for $4 gas.

Not what I think, per the "experts" this is based on the annual cycle of pricing and is based on the current prices. Their reasoning is logical, so that is why I thought around labor day would be a good time to buy a LC/LX.

I would wait for the deal to come your way if you have the time. The deals are out there to be had.
We looked for several months and then we found a 99' LC w/ 92k on this forum for the asking price of 12,700. Now with 98k and zero issues so far.

I recommend looking for a vehicle in outstanding condition at an excellent price. The deals are out there. Labor day is getting to the end of summer when people start thinking of bad weather and 4wd (prices start to rise). It is also when the new models are arriving (prices start to drop). In contrast, July/Aug are long way from winter weather, so 4wd prices seem soft. Labor Day may be toward the end of the best deals on 100s for the year.

In my opinion, summer is a good time to be looking for 100s. Inventories of used vehicles tend to be high. End of month tends to find better bargains, but only for the interest cost amount on a lot. A vehicle in top condition is hard to pass at any time of the month or year - especially when the difference in price is relatively small.
