Before I commit I would like to hear some feedback from others after the installation of the kit.

Anyone?

x2......... I chickened out in the first round, but def. interested.

Did this end up as an expensive paper weight group buy?

That's what I was wondering. I've been scanning the classifieds hoping to see someone off-loading their spool, but no such luck. I'm leaning toward a welded center diff from ACC since it seems like the least expensive route, but would love to get my hands on a spool.

If anyone wantd to get rid of theirs pm me please!!! With or without hubs i will buy it

curran

so where do i talk to the guy ACC about a welded one, sounds good to me, if done right. anyone running these welded spools.

ACC (Atlanta Custom Creations) is a vendor on this forum. IIRC, Brian was the name of gentleman I spoke with and he said they had perfromed the conversion on eight trucks so far.

Brian from ACC did mine, absolutely zero problems with the conversion. I love having a true 2wd / 4wd rig. Brian was great, answered a million of my questions and checked out other things on my rig. This is the first time I have ever paid someone to wrench on my 80, and it was money well spent.

well not much time behind the wheel but wow what a difference, its like adding hp, .took the dog and made it a wolf, light steering ,definitely easier on the frame under the box,not that there was vibrations before from the frontend but i guess there was ,and im super picky, cause its smooth like new .ateb did the install, love those guys .i also gauged it up pyro boost trany temp, johny took it out for a drive checking the egt .in the midle of a corner i give him heck boot it ,in the same phrase i say remember its two wheel drive.completely side ways as we burn snakey out of hell.runs perfert no need to tweek fuel,he says with a huge suprised smile on his face.from a couple of old racers we just laughed.so ya im happy.just have to remember its only 2wd ,which could be a chalenge being ive been driveing these awd s for better than 12 years.the only thing i wish you could still get the spider gear affect in 4wd as well as cdl .to bad one couldnt do a 7 pin re mod thing. so i guess it safe to say 91 hdj lots of mods no 7 pin mod needed

Is this still in the works? If so I am interested without hubs.

Hey guys i just wanted to give a heads up on some faulty AVM hubs. I've had issues with what i thought was tranny. Ill give you a low down. Its a92 hdj-81 155k's regular maintenance and have been doing alot of preventative maintenance. Anyhoo this is what was happening. Driving around and the gears change as usually no hard shifts, but every few minutes the truck would slipp into neutral and then settle back into gear. When it would slip it was super smooth no jerking even when it would slip back it was smooth. As the truck in an auto it was comparable to driving a standard and pressing the clutch down so if it slipped you can still rev it up until it settle back in. So the front end was replaced ie, birfs, seals, bearings, the lot....aside from the hubs since they were new and good so we thought. Anywho simon from TLC import had the truck for a lil while driving it and he got it to slip again and he checked under neath and the front axle was spinning so weve swapped a set a drive plates on and it drives as per usual without any slipping. With the hubs unlocked and CDL engaged it ran fine. So we looked at the hubs and notice some wear on the splines so pretty much what was happening was there was enough pressure on the spring to disengage the hub and then when the load got less it settled back in. The truck was slipping in different gear and different speed. I would have thought the hubs had like a codder pin or something to prevent this. But anyhoo if you have any issues like this check the hubs. I personally wont buy anything from AVM again, as ive put alot of money into find out the problem. Im checking for some aisin hubs or prem warn.
Good luck to those who have the AVM hubs maybe mine were a jinx.

Any of the kits without hubs kicking around, would love to get one.

Same here, where can you get the kit w/o the hubs?

Its actually pretty tough getting/finding these kits without hubs. IIRC, the Lokka company out of South Africa has the PT kit without hubs...just the spool and a spacer for the input support.

FWIW - My P/T kit came from Marks of Australia without hubs:meh:

I replace my T-case to HF1A instead. it's work fine now my shot knob has 4 click 2H/4H/N/4L. Running with oem hub ABS still working good. My truck model HDJ-81 with 1HD-FT diesel tubo 24v :D
