I looked but couldn't see the actualy attachment points or how tough it would be to add one. Looks like The Lal is the man on this thread...post away....

Does your third row lapbelt look any different than your second row lapbelt?

John

No, it looks the same as the second row. Check with C-Dan, he might know if there are any differences.

Pics

Here are some pics on the finished product. I can't find the pics when I actually added it in (was probably pre-digi camera) so show where it attaches. As far as I remember it was a 1-2 bananna job and after taking off the velcro/carpet layer u can see the bolts that hold the existing belt holder. I just unscrewed that and slipped in the extra holder. Same on othe seat. May have had to add a washer.
Belts been used and I've pulled hard on it but not done any crash simulation.
It basically is fine for kids (as no head rest behind middle position) and need small kids left and right. It will fit some 'smaller' adults in a squeeze but u won't get very far driving them (they complain tooo much).

The...."interesting" thing is they are obviously tailored seat covers...look at the head rest.

Please don't tell me that was an Interior choice overseas....

Those are the Asia-Mikey specials... only available in the European and Asian highly sought after VX model.

:D

I'll bet Jillian made those covers.

My momma had better taste (at least thats what she said).
Custom made by my own good lady. At least on 2nd go we managed to get all the seats in the same color and style :)

Lighten up on the lal a bit. :flipoff2:

Field-generated protective covers can save BRUTALLY EXPENSIVE factory seat covers.

You guys would poop yer pants if you knew how much replacement factory upholstry costs.........

Probably more than the factory kick @ss headunit...what is it 10 watts?

I installed a 3rd row center belt in my '96. Very easy - took maybe 10-15 minutes with a metric socket set and a couple screwdrivers. I ordered a factory belt from cruiserparts.com but it is still back ordered, so I installed a new OEM belt I bought for my '72 FJ40 as a "temporary" fix.

I had family out after the birth of our 3rd child and we all loaded in the Cruiser for an overnight trip to San Francisco. That was five adults and three kids in car seats. We also had our luggage in a Yakima Spacecase up top. It was a little challenging getting everyone in and out but very comfortable driving. The a/c was able to keep up (this was in July) and we took it on the interstate (75mph+), to Muir Woods (steep, winding roads), and in downtown SF.

The Cruiser performed well in all aspects and I averaged about 13 mpg. My wife even said that after our little one is grown a bit, she would like to trade in her Sienna for a Cruiser. :)

The second row and third row center seat belts are identical, right down to the length of the buckle and belt. I don't know why Toyota has different part numbers for the two seatbelts  I guess Toyota really do not want people to add the center row seat belts on the third row seating.

The second row belts are also cheaper than the third row belts :D

But that contradicts what CDAN has stated in #11

CDAN- Taking out colors, are the belts the same in length, width, etc. but with different part numbers?

Rdublin- do you have pics of the finished seat? Glad it works for you.

I just did this today for my LX450 third row. About a 5 minute job. Just unscrew the plastic cover underneath the seat (3 screws and don't need to mess taking the seat apart), threat the new belt through from the top on each side and attach to the bolt holding the existing seatbelts from each side, torque to 44 N-m and you are done!

Ordered the lap belt for the 2nd row seat from cruiserdan. About $50 and 1 day delivery! Thanks Dan! This was my first order and it was great. Lexus dealer wanted $80 and 1 week to get the part!
