So if one were to have a truck with a 1HZ that never had AC and one wanted to add aftermarket AC might it be feasible to add a belt driven compressor to drive said AC to the 1HZ?
Is there a provision for the AC bracket on a non-AC 1HZ?
Thanks,
mark

totally different vehicle but my brother wanted to do the same to a nissan patrol, ended up using a roof mounted ac unit 24v he bought of aliexpress, cost $1200 nzd, the quote to install complete factory set up was over $2500 if he could actually find all the bits, you can get smaller marine units for boats as well

I'm assuming if nothing is in the place of the factory compressor, you'd just need the brackets and compressor for the engine side.

88431-60150 - Compressor Bracket No. 1
88444-60100 - Idler Pulley Bracket
88440-60040 - Idler Pulley

88899-60080 - Compressor bolts (4)
88446-60030 - Idler Pulley Adjuster Bolt
90105-10253 - Compressor bracket bolts (2)
91511- B1025 - Idler pulley bracket bolts (4)

My computer restarted mid add, there’s a couple bolt designations that i wasn’t able to capture but that hopefully gets you moving.

You will also need the condenser coil, high and low side hoses to and from the compressor, evaporator coil, and climate controls for engaging the compressor clutch.
You might consider sourcing a donor vehicle to save the time of locating and purchase of the above items.

Yes, there are 4 holes predrilled in the engine.
If a 1HZ came without an aircon, it will have a lifting lug bolted to the holes the aircon compressor bracket uses. If you have aircon, the aircon bracket has a lifting lug built in.

You dont have to use a landcruiser compressor. Other Toyotas a/c compressors will work but you have to add the 1HZ type head to the compressor.

1hz type head?

I should have explained it better. I meant the head on the aircon compressor. Apart from being able to take the 1HZ pulley, I think it also puts the pulley in the correct alignment.
Try not to mix any parts between an 80 series and 70 series 1HZ that involve lining up the pulleys. I helped someone with the measurements and we come to the conclusion they were 10mm further forward on an 80 series 1HZ. It was a while back, so i could be wrong.

All of the AC parts are available new from Toyota for an HZJ7x vehicle LHD.

Would be cheaper to mix and match used and new parts:

New compressor
New condenser
New evaporator
New heater controls that integrate AC
Used components to complete.

It’s not a terribly difficult process but there are a lot of moving parts so to speak involved.

@beno ... any guesstimate on costs for the new bits? ...and sources/costs for the rest?

Not sure this buy is happening but all of this figures into my final decision...
