I want to add an on-off switch, for the DRL, to the switch panel just to the left of the steering wheel where the mirror, rr locker & rr wing window switches are located. The hole size measures 23mm x 41mm (.91" x 1.6"). I asked the parts guy at our local Toyota dealership if there were factory switches available..."no" was his reply.

Does anyone know of any aftermarket on-off switches available in this size that will fit the LC properly?

FYI: From another thread I checked these out www.4x4mods.com but they are not quite the right size (the width looks like it would work but the length of their switches appears a little on the long side).

I installed the switch for my Dick Cepek Off-Road lights in one of those slots. Very little trimming of the plastic behind the panel and it fit perfectly. Just a basic illuminated on/off switch that came with the lights. You just have to hunt down the right switch. It is out there.

This looks identical to my switch. I assume it is the same size.

I've often wondered if the switch that Slee has for the 80's would fit in those blanks. I bought a cheap switch from Radio Shack for my IPF's and would love to use something like what's on that site.

Spresso, you can use the same switch that ARB uses for their lockers. I do not not know the brand off the top of my head but it is written on the ARB switch itself. These ones are lit when activated. The ones pictured are on a 4Runner but I have seen others install them on their 100.

Next question:

How do you remove the left lower dash portion (the same panel that houses the rr locker, rr wing windows & mirror switches) to access/install another switch?

I just removed the blank insert where the switch needed to go. Just use a small flathead screwdriver to carefully pry the insert out. Or try to push through from the back. Found no need to remove the whole panel.

I was able to get the covers off from the front without damage with a wide but slim screwdriver. Going from the back might be a little safer. The square cover has one tab on the left and right.

Spresso, I followed your link and the cut-out for those switches are .86" x 1.46" which is just under the dimensions you gave. The actual button overlaps and hides the edges. Sounds like a good fit.

Thanks Hoser...I think I am going to order the switch and give it a go...will post results of course when completed.

I have used the DAC / hill decent control switches from other toyotas. We also have the 100 series subtank switch and rear fog light switch in stock. I have not been able to use the fog light switch. It has è pins on the back and has all kinds of logic built into it co,plete zith circuit board inside the switch. One of these days we willl decipher it.

That OEM foglight switch sounds the most appropriate for a DRL defeat switch.

Then put the foglights on a separate switch?

I was referring to the "Rear Foglight Switch" Christo mentioned.

My OEM foglights on my LX are on the left arm along with the turn signal and headlamp switch. Where is yours?

Go to a boat outfitter supply store. They have the switches that look just like the ARB, you can even get them with a light. They fit perfect.

I got mine for 9-15 depending on how you want the switch to work.

I have switches from 4x4mods fitted next to the diff lock switch and on the center console where the seat heat control usually goes.. they are not a perfect fit but they work just fine and go well with the center console color etc.. here are some pics for you..

Christo -

More details please (how does it hook up, toggle or momentary, price, etc.)!

Thanks,

I am not in the US, so I do not know the price: Around what ,ost switches from Toyota are. $40/60

Can,t recall now if it is momentary or not. I know we have used them for lights before by swapping the rear fog light switch cover onto them. that was a really expensive way to do it, but we could not get the rear fog light switch to work. i will get back on it after the vacation;

Christo: Have you had the opportunity to check and/or install one of these Eaton switches into a 100?

the Cole Herse brand of rockers are very good and are used as OEM Toyota(US sourced) switchs for some aps.

I believe that the Hubbell will fit that size, lighted red or green but no cool emblems! I used one to control the up and down function on the antenna of my car. The Hubbell is a good product and should be easy to find locally.
