A friend of mine has a 2016 GX. It has what I think is a problem that the adaptive cruise control will not shut off no matter how long I press the on/off button. I called the dealer to see if I was doing something wrong but they want me to bring it in for service and they will troubleshoot the problem. So, I came here because I know someone has had this issue before me. Is there a trick to this or what am I missing?

The cruise control does not cancel when touching the brake peddle?
Albeit, I have a 2013 without adaptive cruise control (just old school), but I would imagine it should work the same to cancel CC.

I believe what he is asking about is just turning off the adaptive function so that it acts as a regular CC. I can do it on my work car by holding the CC button for 3 seconds.

I am asking how to turn on regular cc from adaptive. Press and hold the I/O button and it switches but his doesn't it stays on adaptive. So dealer it is?

Looks like, as they say in baseball, "Youuuurrrrr OUT!"
  1. I was strike one
  2. Bang Bang, strike two
  3. Acrad, strike three...
As you said off to the dugout, er... dealer.

My old '07 G35x has adaptive cruise and it works like some other vehicles by holding the ON/OFF button to override but as you see this leverages pushing the cruise stalk away from you.

Pushing the lever forward is how it works in my '13 RX.
